"Promoting PEACE & Compassion for ALL Beings"

MAY 2008

Dear Society of PEACE Members & Supporters:
May has been a busy month so far! Already this
month, we've had a vegan celebration at
Houston's newest vegan restaurant, co-hosted a
Humane Education workshop with national groups
IDA & ASPCA and
debuted our vegan-themed Art Car in the World's
Largest Art Car Parade!
We've had many wonderful volunteers that have
helped
with our May events, including several days per week
of art car painting workshops. Society of PEACE artist
Michelle Gunnett designed & hand sketched a
great
Peter Max design
for the car that debuted on May 10 in Houston. We'll
be issuing a report soon with the chronology of the art
car from
start to finish and photos of our Art Car Team. In the
meantime, please check out
Society of PEACE officer Amanda Mariano's
"Walking the Vegan Line" blog
for some great photos of parade day. While we
didn't win an award, our vegan-themed limo was seen
by over 200,000 spectators on May 10 and we handed
out free veg literature, too! If you want to purchase a
collectible Art Car T-shirt, visit our Cafe Press shop.
We of course want to thank
everyone that has helped with our ongoing outreach
efforts, either by volunteering (and painting!), donating
or simply
spreading the message of compassion to those
around you. Another great outreach opportunity is
coming up next week during PETA's new "World Vegetarian Week" Campaign, which
runs from May 19-
25. This is a great time to introduce non-vegetarians
to a delicious veggie meal or hand out Vegetarian
Starter Guides!
There are many ways to
get involved in our organization and everyone
makes a
difference! THANK YOU all for your continued
support! Have a great "World Vegetarian
Week"!
Be the change you wish to see in the world. Be PEACE -- Go VEG!
