An Important Message from Sky Ranch!
Regarding health concerns and the Sky Ranch Flu Policy
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Sky Ranch Parents:
The safety of your children is our number one concern here at Sky Ranch. The purpose of this email is to share information that will provide communication to ease your mind regarding recent media events surrounding summer camps across the region.
There are summer camps within our region that have experienced an outbreak of viral illness that has led to the decision to temporarily close one or more of their camps. To date, Sky Ranch has been extremely blessed and has NOT experienced anything that is out of the ordinary for a summer camp during the summer with respect to a trend in camper illness.
In an effort to keep our families well informed, we wish to communicate the pro-active precautionary measures that Sky Ranch is taking to reduce any spread of illness and to ensure the safety of our campers.
Sky Ranch proactive precautionary measures:
  • Health screenings are performed on opening day when campers first arrive.
  • During the week, any child that exhibits any sign of illness is immediately taken to the Health Center.
  • Campers with fever are sent home immediately and are able to reschedule camp for another session during the summer
  • Campers with any viral stomach or other flu like symptoms are being sent home and able to reschedule for another session during the summer.
  • All campers are encouraged to use the hand sanitizer we provide in the dining hall, cabins, activities, and also to wash their hands throughout the day.
  • Good cough and hand hygiene practices are encouraged.
  • All of our Camp Staff is trained on procedures that enable early recognition of illness and our practice is to immediately isolate those who are experiencing any symptoms that might be of concern.
  • Sky Ranch has excellent relationships with local health experts to provide necessary care for your children should the need arise.
  • Our staff routinely cleans and sanitizes all cabins, areas and items that are more likely to have frequent hand contact (like doorknobs, faucets, handrails) (e.g., daily, before/after meals, as needed) and immediately when visibly soiled.
  • Thorough disinfection of all cabins is performed on Saturdays between sessions.
Please be assured that it is our desire to provide your children with the utmost care, and you will be kept abreast of any irregular events that might be of concern.
In order to protect your child and the other campers from illness, we would ask that you reschedule your child for a session later in the summer if your child is experiencing symptoms or illness within 24 hours prior to the start of their designated session of camp. Please call Guest Services at 800-962-2267, they will be happy to assist you in rescheduling.
Should you have concerns or wish to gain additional information regarding Sky Ranch and our procedures please visit our website at www.skyranch.org/dealingwiththeflu or call 800-962-2267.
Thank you for your prayers for the safety of all campers and staff in all camps throughout this summer.
With a heart for our campers,
