Big Changes at bluefeet

It's not all about me, not anymore.
After seven years of working out of my home office with only a small dog available for brainstorming, I moved in with three guys.
The result: I get collaborators. You get more services.

My new office mates are the talented graphic designers from Double Vision. For the past six years, we've worked together on branding projects. Smart and strategic, they always go beyond what's required. They're also the only designers I never lie to about deadlines, because they always deliver on target and on time.

Thanks to this business alliance, bluefeet now offers everything you need to look, act and sound like a leader including branding (corporate and personal) and thought leadership. Our ideal client is someone whose business is their brain.

I was a bit out of touch last year, but you can expect to hear from bluefeet more regularly now, including a new Web site, coming soon.

One thing is certain about a new company logo - some people will hate it, others will love it. But everyone will have an opinion. Change is hard, even when it's good.

Many companies used the recession to make changes - to reposition, rebrand and even relaunch. The goal is to connect with how people feel today, and create trust for the future, be that in the next hour, year or generation.

Some branding changes were welcome, others were startling. Some grew on us and others bombed.

We couldn't capture all that goes into rebranding, but we compiled a few logo makeovers on the bluefeet blog. Enjoy, and please add your input about other new logos you liked (or didn't).

Give Your Business a Retreat
|
Corporate-planning retreats always leave me energized, focused and ready to take on the future.
But entrepreneurs don't have corporate retreats - until now.

In collaboration with my colleague Donna Chaney, I created the strategic planning retreat I always wanted for my business. We're calling it re:launch and it will build a booster rocket under your business.

Take two days out of the office to make the other 363 work for you. Find out:
How to turn your sales funnel into a megaphone.
What you should stop, start and continue.
What you're really good at, and what you should leave to someone else. Find out more at our re:launch event page.

Some people find Facebook addictive, but the site I get stuck on is TED. Pleasure, with no guilt, TED hosts some of the smartest people on earth sharing thought leadership in short spurts of powerful presentations.

Whether you're building a business or career, thought leadership - through speaking engagements, by-lined articles, blogs and media outreach - will give you credibility and demonstrate your thinking.
Consider it a product sample for people whose business is their brain.

For years, I've been telling clients they should do this. Now, I've decided it's time to help them, using my years of positioning, strategic communications planning, presentation coaching and content development.

You may not be ready for TED, but by sharing your ideas you'll generate trust, build your business, and maybe even change the world - or at least your industry.

Branding Opportunity Alert
|
In another rebrand: Overstock.com is now o.co. You can be a .co too.

According to a post on Wired's Epicenter: "The country code for Colombia, .co, is making itself available to the public and is marketing itself as a high-end top level domain with the cachet of .com without all the problems of getting a decent name."

So, if someone already has your ideal domain name, now could be the chance to get what you've always wanted. Even if you have a good .com, you might want to grab .co too, so no one squats on your brand.

But you should do it today. After Sunday's Super Bowl, .co may be the next must-have domain. Go Daddy, famous for their game-day advertising, is counting on it, according to the Los Angeles Times.
