"We don't believe that anyone should go without such a basic necessity as a coat," says Jennifer Rocha of Lake Orion Self Storage.  Thanks to the Lake Orion  team, many fewer people will go without this winter!

During their 2010 coat drive (their second), donors brought twice as many coats as 2009!  The secret(s)? Good planning, a posting on the company website, an ad in the local paper - and Jennifer's determination to "hand out fliers to just about anyone." This Outstanding Organizer has "high hopes for 2011 and years to come!" (We can't wait!)

Amazing Agencies
Contra Costa St. Vincent de Paul and Steve Krank

Steve Krank of the St. Vincent de Paul of Contra Costa County is a very busy man! As a leader in this agency, one part of Steve's duties is to keep track of incoming donations and their distribution to people who need them. A reliable source shared that a recent running total of "coats in" from One Warm Coat drives was 10,610 and that the total of "coats out" was 10,410 -- and the week wasn't over yet! Steve also tracks the flow of food and other gifts AND has been known to make deliveries personally. We are extremely impressed with how quickly Steve and the team at St. Vincent de Paul of Contra Costa County process donations!  We recognize them today for their important work and we say, "Simply amazing!"

And Then the Stars Came Out!

Dancing Stars Donate

This month, our wonderful Warm Coats & Warm Hearts co-sponsor Good Morning America made sure that One Warm Coat's message was in the hearts and on the minds of viewers in a BIG way. First, they traveled to Michigan to tell the story of a remarkable school bus driver who took action to get coats for six children on her bus. Then, they invited hot TV, film and sports stars to auction off their own warm coats! Thanks to celebs like Brad Paisley, Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Grey and her "Dancing" colleagues, we can buy 500 brand new coats for people in need! We deeply appreciate GMA's continued commitment to our cause and the creative ways in which they encourage today's brightest stars and the public to become part of it!  (P.S. The Warm Coats & Warm Hearts drive continues in Burlington Coat Factory stores through February 13th!)
