Changes to Temporary Foreign Worker Program
|
 The Minister of Citizenship and Immigration recently announced proposed regulatory amendments to the Temporary Foreign Worker Program which include:
-
a more rigorous assessment of the genuineness of the job offer;
-
limits to the length of a worker's stay in Canada before returning home; and
-
a two-year prohibition from hiring a temporary foreign worker for employers found to have provided significantly different wages, working conditions or occupations than promised.
These changes will have a significant impact on organizations that use the foreign worker program. The government has provided a period of consultation and CERC will be responding on behalf of our members. We invite you to share your comments with us via email to info@cerc.ca with "Temporary Foreign Worker Program" in the subject line. Read More |

And ironically the companies are the most at risk of losing their best leaders are ones that responded most vigorously (but often misguidedly) during the recession.

Preparing for an IT Talent Squeeze

 IT employers, take note: The federal government's tight time frame for computerization, along with a steep implementation curve, will require more IT workers for health care organizations-soon. Information technology leaders shouldn't be lulled by today's sluggish hiring market into thinking IT employees won't be on the move anytime soon. With the race to computerize the nation's medical records poised to take off, that's going to change, industry watchers say. Read More |
