Connect Atlanta Plan: Help Set Priorities
City planners and consultants have been hard at work this year developing the Connect Atlanta Plan, the city's first comprehensive transportation plan. Having participated actively on on the Technical Advisory and Stakeholder committees and seen numerous presentations, PEDS has been quite impressed with the visionary and pedestrian-friendly nature of the plan.

During the next two weeks, the city is holding a series of public meetings to discuss project ideas and evaluation criteria for the plan.  Many of the concepts and project ideas that will be discussed at these meetings were generated in workshops held across the City during February and March. Evaluation criteria will impact project prioritization for the next twenty-five years, so your input is critical.

Walkable Communities for Seniors
Too many communities in the Atlanta region are not walkable for people of any age, but for older adults it can be downright dangerous. The lack of sidewalks, safe crossings, signals, shade and resting places leave seniors with very few options. At a time when older adults are living longer, expressing a strong preference to remain in their communities and live active and healthy lives, safe and attractive places to walk have never been more important.

The Atlanta Regional Commission's Agency on Agency invites you to attend "Creating Walkable Communities for All," a workshop on ways to create pedestrian-friendly neighborhoods and corridors, with a special emphasis on the preferences and needs of older adults.

Put the Brakes on Speeding!
During the past two months we distributed over 3000 SLOW DOWN Radar Gun
signs. We appreciate the help provided by leaders of more than
100 neighborhoods and other volunteers who helped us make t
his happen.

We're out of signs for now, but expect to conduct a yard sign campaign again within the next eighteen months. As a subscriber to our e-newsletter, you'll be among the first to know about it. In the meantime, download this Slow Down Flyer (pdf) to learn nine other strategies for putting the brakes on neighborhood speeders.
