The Accessible Home Journal                           Vol. 4  Issue 4                                         April  2010

SO, YOU STILL WANT A WALK-IN BATHTUB?

I love my bathtub but I can’t get in it.”  How awful!  But, worse is, “I love my bathtub but I can’t get out of it.”  That is a 911 call you don’t want to be a part of.

Those rascally salesmen are still out there trying to entice you into making a big mistake so we thought it a good idea to re-issue this popular issue of our Journal.

Consider this, when was the last time you got into your tub, sat there in the altogether and waited for the water to cover you and when was the last time you finished your bath then sat in the water (now shivering in the altogether) as it drained out?  That is the way it is in a walk-in bathtub.  Do you take your bath in a robe like this fellow does?

And then there's that pesky threshold on a walk-in.  If you are having trouble getting in or out of your tub now, that threshold is going to be a problem.

How about the cost?  It is easy to spend over $10,000 on the tub, the installation, and the remodeling of your bathroom.  Money lost!  A walk-in tub will not add value to a home, nor can it be sold or moved to another home.

There is a better way.  One that requires no remodeling at all.  A ceiling lift will carry you safely and comfortably to and from your existing tub.  Even a person whose legs will not support their own weight is able to use their existing bathtub.  It can be purchased and installed for less than half of the cost of installing a walk-in tub.  And, the lift can be removed, sold, or moved to another location.  Pretty good huh?
