A Safe Way to Access that Deep and Dangerous Bathtub

A wall lift is a relatively inexpensive way for  people with limited abilities to safely transfer from one fixture to another.  Installation is accomplished by installing a bracket next to the fixture to be accessed.  The lift then hooks to the bracket.  A bracket may be installed next to a bed, commode, or bathtub.  The lift can be easily moved from bracket to bracket as needed.  It only weights 30 pounds but has a lifting capacity of 350 pounds.

Pictured to the left is an installation being used next to a bed.  An ideal location for a bracket and lift is next to that big beautiful tub you want so badly to use (but you know that it is just not safe to do so).

The above installation helps a young lady suffering from post polio syndrome to enjoy her bathtub.  Though she can not use her legs she has no fear when getting in or out of the tub.  She is able to use the lift (and bathtub) without any outside assistance.  The left picture shows the bracket installed in the back corner behind the bathtub and on the right is the lift hooked to the bracket.  It plugs into a standard 110 volt outlet.

This quality wall lift is made by BHM Medical.  They are also the manufacturer of some of the best overhead lift devices made.  We will be traveling to their home office in Quebec, Canada, later this month and will be adding their products to our fine selection of home access devices already available.  Applications of their lifts will appear from time to time in this Journal.  Please call for more information.
