Overhead Lifts, Traverse Systems

They move in any direction

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if a disabled person could be effortlessly lifted and moved from one place to another, perhaps like a magician's levitation or maybe Star Trek's, “Beam me up Scotty”.  Think of all of the back injuries and shoulder injuries that would not occur.  Think too of the people that are now in long term care facilities that could be, and should be, at home.

Well, we are not magic and we haven’t figured out the beaming process but we do know how to lift and move a person effortlessly from one part of a room to another.  It is a simple assembly but a little tricky to explain so please refer to the illustration and bear with me.

A track is mounted to the ceiling along each of the two longest walls.  A third, movable track is suspended between them.  A lift is suspended from the third track by a movable carriage.  Because the lift can move from one side of the room to the other along the third track and the third track can move from one end of the room to the other along the tracks at the walls the lift can be positioned over any spot in the room.  Pretty neat, huh?

This overhead lift assembly is called a traverse system and can be fitted with a lift with a 550 pound capacity.  A version with an additional third track and motor will have a capacity of 1100.  That is, up and down, to and fro, anywhere in the room; 1100 pounds effortlessly.  We can do this for any situation.  Give us a call.
