Traveling with Disabilities During your last visit to a casino on
the Las Vegas strip did you happen to notice the number of
tourists using some kind of support device. Many are in wheelchairs or are using battery powered
scooters, many use walkers, and some are even carrying oxygen bottles to
help them breathe. Isn’t it
terrific that so many people with what most would consider daunting
hardships would make the effort to visit Las Vegas and join in the fun. How do they cope?
At home they have equipment to support their needs but once on the
road what then? To be sure
there are ramps and “handicap accessible” facilities but consider
this; how does a person that cannot stand transfer from a wheelchair to
their bed? They may have a friend or relative to help them but that is
an accident just waiting to happen. The
best way to solve the problem is portable transfer equipment, equipment
that they use at home but is easily carried with them on a trip. This is a battery powered, mobile floor lift. It is called a LikoLight.
It is constructed of light weight
aluminum and can be disassembled, without tools, so that the heaviest part
weighs only 22 pounds. For
the individual that has difficulty in transferring it will provide support
at home and at that fancy hotel right on the Strip. ___________________________________________________________________________________________ It is the purpose of ASI to enhance the quality of life for people that may have a debilitating disease, suffer accident trauma, or be frail do to age.
