Greetings!
Even though Punxsutawney Phil on Feb. 2 predicted six more weeks of winter, we at The Children's Science Center are basking in thoughts of summer, when we hope to be out in full force at community centers, libraries and other venues near you!
We're looking for volunteers to help us build our community outreach efforts, which will feature the fun-filled science and math exhibits that have entertained and educated children of all ages in our "Museum without Walls" program. Volunteers will coordinate these programs at a neighborhood venue such as community centers, libraries, religious institutions and more. The Children's Science Center will provide the training, materials and other resources you need; all you need is enthusiasm and a passion to inspire kids to enjoy science and math!
If you would like to help create such a program in your neighborhood, please contact Executive Director Ann Myers at a.myers@TheChildrensScienceCenter.org

SCIENCE HEADLINES
Scientists are watching seismic activity around the clock at Mount Redoubt Volcano, 106 miles
southwest of Anchorage, Alaska, for a possible eruption within days or weeks. The U.S. Geological Survey considers Mount Redoubt as one of the nation's highest-threat

According to the USGS, Redoubt last erupted explosively nearly 20 years ago, sending ash
plumes 40,000 feet into the air and causing engine failure in a 747
jet, which eventually landed safely.
For the latest information on the volcano's acvitity, including Webcam views, visit the Alaska Volcano Observatory's Web site.
