Now... onto the amazing story of our tour to
MS!
After a 14 hour drive in our 15 passenger van we arrive
in Nashville catch up on some much needed sleep
before hittin the town... We were fortunate enough to
catch the Americana Music Awards show at The
Ryman Auditorium where we were graced by
performances by: Lyle Lovett, Guy Clark, Joe Ely,
Emmylou Harris, Patty Griffin, and many more!
The next Mornin' it was off to Mempis for a walk down
Beale St and some world famous BBQ before
heading to our final destination - "Starkville, MS" for the
Johnny Cash Flower Pickin Festival!
We arrive just in time to check into our hotel where we
find our neighbors are Marty Stuart and Kathy Cash
before heading to setup for our Fri night gig at Rick's
Cafe.... What a beatiful club, great people and an
awesome time.. We entertained the enthusiastic
crowd of 350+ Johnny Fans!
The Next Morning the Festival Begins! The entire main
St in Starkville is closed for this incredible event.. The
Spirit of Cash was definately in the Air as thousands
of people from around the country poured onto main st.
Vendors Lined the Street, Music seemed to come
from everywhere, the Main Stage would rival huge
concerts in Central Park!
6 pm hits.. and we get onstage to an amazing
welcome and round of applause. We deliver an
amazing 40 minute set of pure Johnny Cash Bliss!
AND THEN IT HAPPENS......
After an incredible set by Marty Stuart and his
Fabulous Superlatives... We get called up by Marty to
join in on the finale of Amazing grace with Marty, his
band and Joanne Cash! (somebody pinch me
please!!) There I stood in glory looking out on 5,000
people for what has so far amounted to the greatest
musical moment of my life! (Coming in 2nd was the
most generous compliment from Johnny's own
Daughtor "Kathy Cash" and His Sister Joanne that
same very day!).
I also had the chance to meet and talk with Marshall
Grant (Johnny's Bass player)..Stood in Johnny
Cashes Jail cell, Shared breakfast with Jimmy Tittle
and so much more! The town, the people,
the hospitality made every mile worth it! and we look
forward to going back next year where we may have
the opportunity to perform with none other than "Kris
Kristofferson!"
