May 8, 2009 (Boulder, CO) - This week, the Leave No Trace e-tour, a traveling team of educators, begins a summer tour of 15 states. The e-tour is part of the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics' national effort to teach outdoor skills and ethics, as well as help make the critical connection between people and the outdoors.
The Leave No Trace e-tour, sponsored by the Coleman Company, brings hands-on Leave No Trace demonstrations, interactive activities and general Leave No Trace education to schools, camps and youth-serving organizations from May through August. The team also travels to select retailers specializing in Coleman outdoor products to promote Leave No Trace information to kids and families. The e-tour provides basic Leave No Trace education programs that inspire youth to get outside while promoting responsible enjoyment of the outdoors.
This summer, Leave No Trace educators Alexis Ollar and Topher Marlett, will travel through the Midwest and West. A sampling of events include the Youth and Family Center in St. Louis, Lake Bemidji State Park in northern Minnesota, National Get Outdoors Day in Denver, Presidio Community YMCA in San Francisco and California State Parks Beach Day in Huntington Beach.
The team will also be conducting presentations at Cabelas, Coleman Factory Outlets and Bass Pro stores. These presentations are free and open to the general public. A snapshot of their event calendar includes:
