Greetings!
Nature provides great metaphors by which we can
examine our lives, and as we head into the Winter
months of things dying
into order to be reborn again in the Spring, one way
we see that particular cycle being demonstrated is
by
the multicolored leaves from these past few months
withering away and eventually falling to the
ground. A
speaker from the recent women's conference I
attended at
Omega Institute last month encouraged us to take
note and exclaimed, "Imagine it's like
patriarchy falling away!"
Transformation is
most
definitely in
the air - and it's ultimately the women who are going
to make the real difference in how well our future
turns out for generations to come. There is
something bubbling up, an awakening or perhaps a
calling of sorts, where now more than ever, women
are coming together,
connecting, collaborating, feeling the
need to do good in the world, to make things right
for ourselves, our families, our communities. To be
the best we can be, and to work with others to make
life better for us all. That should continue to be our
goal, as we head into 2007; using our collective
voice, our
collective wisdom. We need to keep our eye on the
prize, and not sell ourselves short of being anything
but magnificent in every area of our lives.
Change is
gonna come from us ladies....can't you just feel it in
your
bones?! And here at TWM, we feel that
after
spending
much time developing ourselves and who we are, we
can now make things happen much quicker when we
connect
with others to collaborate for the good of all, so stay
tuned for more of that next year and in the times to
come.
But right now there's lots to talk about from these
past two months as well as what
we have coming up so here
goes....On
Saturday, September 23rd we had our semi-annual
Visioning Workshop: Using Your Creativity and
Intuition to Gain Clarity, Find Focus and Manifest
Your Dreams! which brought together
a group
of ten for an intense afternoon of delving into our
subconscious, to see what our essential selves
want to manifest at this time in our lives. As usual,
there
were many revelations and surprises as to what
ended
up on the collage, and then what has happened
since
then! We hope you can join us for the next
one and be sure to see the below article for more
details.
Also in September, TWM participated
in
the
first LifeMoxie! Women's Economic Power
Day Conference to be
held here in New
York. TWM had a table where many newcomers
signed up, so welcome to all of you! TWM Board
Member Melanie McEvoy and I were also honored to
be skillshop presenters at the conference - thanks to
all who attended our sessions!
Last month we had
our second TWM Members-only event - held
at the
beautiful Chopra
Center & Spa at Dream Hotel in midtown.
It was a
perfect afternoon with just the right amount of
information, relaxation, and connections! We
started with some gentle yoga based on the Seven
Spiritual Laws of Yoga, and then learned about the
ancient Indian health science known as Ayurveda,
determining our doshas, or body types in that
system, and particular foods to complement them,
and then we settled in for a deep meditation. The
only word that comes to mind of how we felt
afterward is BLISSFUL! The Chopra facility is a
beautiful, peaceful space that is equally matched by
its welcoming and accommodating staff who
truly
practice the philosophy they preach! Many thanks
to Holly Hattfield, Jill Carlen and all the others
who made the experience for our members such a
treat - so much so that we didn't want to leave!
See below article for a description and photo of
these
and a link to other Past Events.
Other
October happenings included having a table at
the CUNY Job Fair - welcome to all of you
new ladies
to our list as well! Also, on October 2nd, some
exciting news was that The Women's Mosaic was
featured on
GreenStone Media (the new women-
owned radio network started by Gloria Steinem and
Jane Fonda as well as other notable women) when I
was interviewed for The Rolanda Show. This is a
nationally broadcast program and host Rolanda Watts
couldn't have been more excited and enthusiastic
about the work that TWM is doing to bring women of
diverse backgrounds together to learn from and be
inspired by one another in uplifting and positive
ways! I was also honored to be invited on
scholarship in October to attend Omega
Institute's
Enlightened Power Women's Conference with
such amazing
speakers as Yolanda King (Martin Luther King Jr.'s
eldest daughter) and author/speaker Marianne
Williamson - TWM made lots of connections as well
as was represented at the resource table there.
As you know, also in October we
had our annual Fall Membership Drive which
resulted
in many new members and renewals. Thank you
to
ALL who have joined us so far- we sincerely
appreciate
your support and know that you will enjoy the
benefits we provide to you as well. There are many
of you who have said you've been meaning to join -
but haven't yet done so. We need your financial
support now in order for us to continue with
our work. Please
join
at the highest possible level, and note that a basic
Mosaic Membership will be going up to $35 in
2007.
With all these great benefits and exclusive
opportunities, what are
you waiting for? Why not become a member of TWM today !
As for December, we've decided to do a 3-events-in-
one deal....part fundraiser, part ESP Conference and
part holiday gathering....all combined to make one
fabulous, fun evening! Our TWM End-of-Year
Fundraiser Gathering: Wine Tasting, ESP and Holiday
Bazaar Bonanza! will take place on
Wednesday,
December 13th downtown at the swank, open
space
at Discovery Wines in the East Village. Learn about
and sample unique wines, hear from dynamic women
about the services they offer or causes they believe
in and shop 'til you drop with our women-only
vendors selling that perfect holiday gift! We've
offered two admission cost options to make it
accessible for all those who want to support us. See
below
for more details; a separate announcement about it
will be sent shortly as well with additional details for
those who would like to present or be vendors at the
event.
Don't forget there
are several
other
ways you can support
our
mission of
educating, inspiring and motivating women to
express their full power and potential in the world.
There are many costs
associated with putting the
events together with the staff needed to
coordinate and run them year round. We
urgently need your
financial support to continue doing what we are
doing and eventually grow to offer you even
more. Whether you become a Member, use
GoodSearch.com
or spend $5 for
a CHICKS ROCK button, every penny counts, so
please contribute to the best of your ability! Oh, and
thank you to all who
purchased a Macy's pass - whose Shop for a Cause
day happened in September as well!
Also, we'll be leaving our TWM 2006 Survey up
until the
end of the year, and publish the results in our
January eNewsletter, so if you haven't yet
responded,
please do so now. We're also just about finished with
our second edition
of our printed newsletter, INSPIRER,
so be sure that your snail mail address is up to date
by going to the Update Email Address/Profile
link at the bottom of this email. We'll of course
let you know when the new PDF is up as well!
As we approach this Thanksgiving and subsequent
holiday season, let us be grateful for all of our
blessings
past, present and those which are certain to come in
the future!
Cheers!
