Greetings!
Well, Spring has finally sprung! One only has to look
around at branches with their newly sprouted leaves
and tulips blooming everywhere to know that
something greater than us has once again
brought bare trees and barren flowerbeds to life.
Transformation is something that takes place
around
us every day - have you ever stopped to wonder
what makes it all happen?
Perhaps you have or perhaps you haven't, but we
think that it is safe to say that most people have
pondered the question of God, The Universe,
Nature -
whatever you name you choose to call it - at some
point in their lives. It is a
subject that is rarely discussed without heated
debate or a polarizing or proseltyzing approach, but
TWM believes it does not have to be that way - and
will set out to
prove it this month. Several of you have suggested
that we do a "women and spirituality" event - so
here it is! We planned it for May, which is not
necessarily thought of as a "holy" or "spiritual"
month,
but the more research we did, we realized that it
did indeed have its share of significant holidays in
the
Pagan, Buddhist, Bah'ai, Tao, and Christian
traditions,
as well as honoring the spirit of our fallen solidiers on
Memorial
Day - and of course celebrating the ultimate
representation of the Divine Feminine -
Mothers.
But more on this event in a minute...
First we want to thank everyone who came to last
month's event on April 1st, where we once again
were
filled to
capacity for our semi-annual Visioning Workshop
. We took a full day to check in with ourselves
and see what we
need to be focussing on at this time in our lives and
each created a meaningful collage as a tool to
help
manifest it! We've received some great feedback
about happenings as a result of attending... If you
missed it in April, we'll offer the next one in the Fall
so be sure to catch it the next time around! (Thanks
to those TWM ladies who came to my Spring
Cleaning for the Soul talk last month, too!)
Also, just this past Saturday, May 6th we had a
smaller but just as mighty Team for the Revlon
Run/Walk for Women's Cancers make the trek
from
Times Square to Central Park where TWM had a
booth at the Health Expo. Congratulations to our
team which raised approximately $2000 for the
cause! Special thanks to Team Captain Mary
Simmons who handled it all - see her summary
below!
We also want to welcome all of our new friends
who signed up at our tables both at the Revlon
Walk,
as well as at the CUNY job fair where we
were the day before! We hope to see you at
many of our upcoming events and ask that you
spread the word about TWM to your friends! (See
below article to modify your mailing list options)
This month, on Thursday, May 18th (which happens
to be the eve of the release of the
DaVinci Code...) we
will
be presenting Girls, God and Goddesses! Women's
Relationship to Religion and Spirituality in the
lovely space at OneSpirit Interfaith Alliance.
We'll have women representing the major (and not
so major) religions, as well as a "goddess" expert on
hand to simply open up and create a
comfortable, welcoming environment to discover
and explore the richness and complexity of women's
connection to their religion and spirituality, and how
it
has shaped who they are and influences them in their
daily lives. We hope you can join us for what is
sure
to be a unique and engaging conversation!
We are thrilled that our very first TWM Members-
only event will
be held on Tuesday, June 6th on the Roofdeck of
CLAY Fitness & Spa who is the co-sponsor for
this Roundtable Discussion on Women's Body
Image. We are putting together some
interesting speakers to start the discussion as well
as a fabulous goodie bag to thank all our
members for their continued support!
Speaking of which...
Won't you please take this opportunity to support
our
work
educating, inspiring and motivating women to create
the best life they can? There are many costs
associated with putting the
events together and to be able to offer them at
affordable,
inclusive admission fees with the staff needed to
coordinate and run them year round. We
urgently need your
financial support to continue doing what we are
doing and eventually grow to offer you even
more.These upcoming events showcase what
TWM
has to
offer - a
comfortable, congenial, atmosphere for
women of various backgrounds to come together to
learn from and be inspired by each other; to take
what they get back and incorporate it into their own
lives, enriching their world an the world around them.
Please visit our Membership or Donate page (or
link at the end of this email) to
make a tax-deductible contribution.
AND, last, but certainly not least, get ready for a
separate
announcement about our TWM's Summer
Soiree
Fundraiserat Nolita's new bar/lounge
Obivia on Monday, June 26th. We've
had some sizzling parties in
the past, so stay tuned for details about the big
event! It's a great way to
support The Women's Mosaic while having a fun night
out as well! We'll need lots of help with the
event and will be putting together a committee to
work on it - if you are interested, please be sure that
you have checked off "Volunteer
Opportunities" in your Subscriber
Profile by clicking on Update Profile/Email Address link
at the very bottom of this email.
That's it for the moment....you'll hear lots from us
this month, so hang on for some fabulous events -
hope to see you there!
