Greetings!
Feliz Cinco de Mayo! Could it actually be MAY
already?! With sunny days and warmer weather
ahead, you can also look forward to some exciting
events TWM has to offer you!
But first, thanks to everyone who came to last
month's Visioning Workshop: Using Your
Creativity and Intuition to Gain Clarity, Find Focus
and Manifest Your Dreams! Once again, we
had a personal and intense afternoon focusing on
our inner selves - where we are, where
we've been and where we need to be going at this
point in time. Half the group had done one or two
before, and
continues to be surprised at what comes out, and
then there were
others that experienced the workshop for the first
time - special kudos
goes to Margaret Behrns who took the train
up from
Washington, D.C. just for the day to finally
participate in this workshop - and was so thrilled that
she did! This is something that we offer twice a
year, so keep an eye out for another one in
the Fall.
Please
see
below
for the article and link to photos. Also, just
this past Saturday, we had a team of 22 participants
walk and run in the rain for the annual Revlon
Run/Walk for Women's Cancers. Led by our
Captain Tina Marie Greene this year's TWM
team raised over $5000! for women's
cancer research and awareness
- thanks so much to
everyone that participated and especially to Tina for
being the super-organized, enthusiastic captain that
she is! TWM also had a booth at the Health Expo in
Central Park where runners ended up after their
walk/run, so thanks goes out to Lynn
D'Lima, Andi Jompole and Adrienne Winton
for being such sports to come out early on a
rainy Saturday morning to staff it! See below for a
full description and photos of these and other past
events.
This month we are hoping to schedule a screening of
the film Another Road Home - a
documentary about
Jewish Israeli filmmaker Danae Elon's search to
reunite with her male Muslim Palestinian caregiver
after almost 15 years. The journey is a fascinating
one that takes us to, among other places, the
Arab-American
community of Paterson, New Jersey where
she finds his sons, and is a very personal, human look
at how the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has
affected
this one family, and the bonds that have formed
between them despite it. Danae will be talking to us
afterwards to answer the many questions we are
sure to have for her, so please join us for this very
interesting evening!
Stay tuned for more details and an Evite link in a
separate email to
follow sometime next week.
In June we are working on an event that will highlight
the culture and cuisine of Sri
Lanka, as well as the
affects of the
tsunami particularly on women in that country and
how we can help with
their recovery and rebuilding,
so stay tuned for more details on that as we have
them. In July we'll have our annual summer
fundraiser with a Cuban theme, and will need a
committee to work on it - so be sure to check off
the "Volunteer Opportunities" list if you are
interested
in helping out with this huge event that is crucial for
raising TWM
funds!
And of course, don't forget that one of the best
ways you can support us is by becoming an
official
member of The Women's Mosaic - a basic
membership
costs less than $2.00 a month! See below for more
details and a link to our Membership page.
Please note
that
we
are still currently looking for summer
interns in
various areas, and particularly in Public
Relations.
Just click on the Bulletin Board page of our
website at for more details and to refer anyone you
feel might
be interested.
That's all for the moment. We look forward to seeing
many of you at our upcoming events! And of course,
as always,
please feel free to contact us with any comments,
suggestions or questions you might have.
All the best,

Kristina M. Leonardi, Founder & Executive Director

LAST MONTH'S EVENT:VISIONING WORKSHOP: Using Your Creativity and Intuition to Gain Clarity, Find Focus and Manifest Your Dreams!
Saturday, April 9th 11am-4pm
As usual, everyone who took some time for
themselves
to come to our popular and powerful semi-annual
workshop had a creative, transformative afternoon
finding out what their spirit and soul's current desires
are and how to make them happen. We've had some
great feedback from
the participants about revelations and results that
they have had so far! Don't miss the next one in
the Fall!

ALSO LAST MONTH:TWM's Team for the Revlon Run/Walk for Women's Cancers
Over $5000 Raised by our Team!
TWM once again participated in The Revlon
Run/Walk for Women's Cancers this past
Saturday,
April 30th. This year we had a bigger team and far
surpassed our fundraising goal with our 22 team
members, who were led by our amazing captain Tina
Marie
Greene!
Although the weather was not ideal, everyone
(including some men) wore their CHICKS ROCK! T-
shirts with pride and then made it over to TWM's
booth at the Expo in Central Park. We had many
interested folks stop by our booth to sign up to be
on our mailing list and we look forward to seeing
them at future events!

THIS MONTH'S EVENT: ANOTHER ROAD HOME Screening & TalkBack
Documentary Film About Jewish Israeli Woman Raised by Muslim Palestinian Caregiver
Danae Elon is a Jewish Israeli woman who was raised
in part by a Palestinian Muslim male caregiver.
Another Road Home is her story of trying to
reunite with him after 15 years - and in that search
we get a very subtle and personal look at how the
Israeli/Palestinian conflict has affected this family,
and puts a human face on that struggle in general.
It is a moving film that also brings up questions of
identity and what is considered home - it's a
fascinating journey we hope you take with us and
talk
to Danae herself about her experiences afterwards!
For more information about the film visit
