Greetings!
Well, it looks like Spring is finally on its way...and we
hope you have been busy preparing to plant the
seeds of your growth for the rest of the year! TWM
has certainly been busy the past month working on a
lot of behind the scenes projects necessary in order
for
us to blossom!
One of those tasks was to finally mail out the
beautiful 8-page printed newsletter we have been
talking about for the last several months - we
thought that Women's History Month and
our
Membership Drive was a perfect time to
send
them to
anyone we had a correct snail mail address for prior
to March 1. Over
600 of you should have received one and now have a
better idea and understanding of who we are and
what we've done up until now.
INSPIRER (the name
of our newsletter) was a tremendous undertaking for
us, and would not have been possible without the
contributions of our intern writers Lauryn Bianco
and
Tamika Yador, and without the extremely
hard work,
talent and dedication of our graphic design intern
Christina Quintero, and our TWM member
and
volunteer editor-extraordinaire Michelle
French. A BIG TWM
thank you
to them (as well as to Craig Wenrich for generously
donating the printing of it) for making this significant
premiere issue so
special and a pleasure to work on with! For
those
of you who did not receive one, we have put a PDF
version of it up on our website which you can access
by the link below.
Last month, we had a
great evening at
Nine Parts of
Desire on Wednesday, March 9th where we
got to
experience the amazing talents of Heather Raffo
combined
with the fascinating and heart-wrenching subject
matter of the current plight of Iraqi women.
Please
see
below
for the article and link to photos.
March also saw the promotion of our Women's
History Month
Membership Drive, which was a moderate
success.
Thank you very much to everyone who recently
joined! We hope that those of you who have it
on your to-do list make a point of crossing it off
sooner rather than later, as your support is urgently
needed now. For more information on Membership
see
the article and link below.
As you know, this Saturday, April 9th we will be
offering our semi-annual
transformative Visioning Workshop: Using Your
Creativity and Intuition to Gain Clarity, Find Focus
and Manifest Your Dreams! This
workshop continues to be extremely popular, and
even if you have done one in the past, because your
life is
constantly moving and changing, it is good idea
to periodically re-evaluate where you are and what
you want.
Spring is a time of re-birth, and this workshop
provides a great tool to help you see what you want
that re-birth to look like! See the side bar for
details and and Evite link.
Don't forget that also next month, we are once again
organizing a
team to participate in the Revlon Run/Walk for
Women's
Cancer on Saturday, April 30th, led by
Captain Tina Marie Greene. Please
see
below
for more details and a
registration link, and contact her directly with any
questions.
In other news, TWM is pleased to welcome the
addition of Development Intern
Rebecca Cathcart, who joined us last
month,
and will be working primarily on grant writing along
with our veteran grant writer and TWM member
Kekla Magoon, and an original TWM
participant, Kate Sosnoff, who will all be
aiming to get us some much needed funds from the
foundation world. Rebecca also represented The
Women's Mosaic at this past weekend's
Empowering Women: Powering
Change inter-collegiate conference at
Columbia University which was organized by TWM's
very own member Selena Soo! We're thrilled
that they are all a part of TWM! [Please note
that
we
are currently looking for summer interns in various
areas. Please go to the Bulletin Board page of our
website at www.thewomensmosaic.org/bulletinboa
rd.asp
for more details and to refer anyone you feel might
be interested.]
As for the next few months, please note that
because of all the behind the scenes action of the
last several months, we are catching up on
programming, and hope to have some interesting
events in the works coming up soon, so stay tuned
for
announcements as they happen. In the meantime be
sure to check out the great non-Mosaic events that
are happening this month. See below article for link
or just check out the Upcoming Events page
on our
website.
That's all for now, folks...And remember - April
showers bring May flowers!
