Greetings!
Don't let this weather fool you - it's March! Which
means it's Women's History Month - our time
to reflect upon and celebrate what it means to be a
woman - who we
are, where we've come from and where we're
going.
The Women's Mosaic seeks to guide you on
that
journey by bringing you opportunities that educate,
inspire and motivate you to be all that being a
woman can be! We are here to give you broader
perspectives about women from every background -
our issues and
concerns, cultures and traditions, tragedies and
triumphs; we are here to recognize our unity and
celebrate our diversity so that we can come together
as one voice, to make a positive impact on our lives
and the lives of those around us. We are so glad
that you are interested enough to be a part of what
we are doing, and hope that you will support us
financially through membership this month!
But more about that in a minute...
First, we wanted to thank everyone who came to
last month's Valentine's Chocolat Tasting
Benefit. Everyone at Marie
Belle did a fabulous job - the atmosphere couldn't
have been more romantic nor the chocolates more
scrumptious! The event was a true delight for all
those who participated, and thanks to
volunteers Kendra Thomas and Xaira Pagan for
helping out that night as well. Unfortunately we
did not get
enough of a turnout to make this lovely
evening the fundraiser it needed to be,
and so we fell significantly short of our financial
goals for the event. This is therefore a
critical time for The Women's Mosaic, and we are
asking that
if you could not attend the fundraiser that you show
your support by becoming a member, or by making
a tax-deductible donation in any amount by using the
link on the bottom of this newsletter. We truly
need your help at this time since our budgetary
needs were not met by this fundraiser. Please see
below
for the article and link to photos.
This March's
Women's History Month Membership Drive
is our most important ever - your support is urgently
needed to keep The Women's Mosaic going and
growing . Besides providing general financial
support for the organization, your membership allows
us to garner funds from other sources such as
foundation and corporations; and gives you benefits
and
perks like reduced admission to our events, discounts
on various products and services, as well as other
opportunities - the more members we have the more
benefits we can offer. The bottom line is that if you
enjoy what we are doing, please show your
support! There are lots of exciting things we'd
like
to do over the Summer and Fall, but cannot do so
without your help. Please see the article below
for
more
details and we will send a separate email about it as
well on International Women's Day. Also, if you have
provided us your snail mail
address prior to March 1, you will be
receiving a copy of our membership mailing with our
printed newsletter shortly.
By now you should have received an invitation to
this month's event, also in honor of International
Women's
Day - to attend as a group the critically acclaimed
one-
woman show 9 Parts of Desire on
Wednesday, March 9th. After 10 years of extensive
research, actress Heather Raffo portrays nine
different Iraqi women, giving us an intimate
understanding of their struggles, and highlights
the universal struggle of all women who live or have
lived under similar
circumstances. It is a great opportunity to let art
give you a more human and personal perspective of
this country, in contrast to what you see on the
evening news. We are also hoping to have a
talkback with Heather after the show so please be
sure to RSVP NOW so we know the numbers.
See the article below and link to the left
for
more details and feel free to pass on the invitation to
your friends, families and co-workers!
In April we will be offering our semi-annual
transformative Visioning Workshop: Using Your
Creativity and Intuition to Gain Clarity, Find Focus
and Manifest Your Dreams! This
workshop continues to be extremely popular, and
even if you have done one in the past, your life is
constantly moving and changing and it is good idea
to periodically re-evaluate where you are and what
you want.
Spring is a time of re-birth, and this workshop
provides a great tool to help you see what you want
that re-birth to look like! See the side bar for
details and and Evite link.
Also next month, we will once again be organizing a
team to participate in the Revlon Run/Walk for
Women's
Cancer on Saturday, April 30th, led by
Captain Tina Marie Greene. Please
see
below
for more details and a
registration link, and contact her directly with any
questions.
This month let's remember and honor all the great
women
who
came before us and who allowed us to get to where
we
are
today. Take a moment to
think about what we are doing with the opportunities
they afforded us - opportunities that we all too
easily often
take
for
granted. What are you doing with their
gift?
In Unity,
Peace and Woman-Power!

Kristina M. Leonardi, Founder & Executive Director
