Isolaz™ - Pore Purification & Acne Relief
The most prevalent reason for persistent acne (non cystic) is pore blockage. Sebum, dead skin debris, makeup and environmental grime form a "cap" over pores. This cap prevents the normal function of skin and very specifically creates the ideal environment for the growth of acne-causing bacteria.
Isolaz Action on Acne Lesion. | Isolaz is a dual process procedure which both pneumatically cleanses the pores through the application of suction and knocks out bacteria with broadband light.
Each pulse combines light and vacuum to gently pull clogging debris from the pores. Four to six sessions are recommended for successful clearing of pores.
Isolaz is perfect for
- Clearing congested pores to reduce pore size
- Reducing blackhead formation and accumulation
- Reducing Mild to Moderate Acne
- Awakening "lazy" skin
- Creating a clean receptive skin surface for treatment products

A recent comment about the video. "This is a pretty "yukky" video, but then I realized all that stuff is clogging up my skin, so getting it cleared out this way makes a lot of sense!"

Zeltiq™ - Freezing Fat to Trim and Slim
We announced the arrival of Zeltiq to our office last month. Tons of calls and questions.
Frequent Questions from our patients:
Will Zeltiq help me lose weight? No, it is not a weight loss alternative
Will I see a difference right away? No, it is not instant. Fat breakdown starts within hours but you'll not start noticing changes until about 6 weeks with continued action to about 6 months
Can I treat as many areas as I want? Yes, but not in the same day. Limited to four areas per appointment session
How many areas can I treat at once? The system will only treat a single site at one time. Plan on 1 hour per site.(Ex: 4 sites = 4 hours. Bring a book or a couple of dvds or you favorite pillow for a nice nap. You can take breaks between sites, but not during a site session)
Are there discounts for multiple area treatment plans? Of course!
How do I know if I'd make a good candidate? Personal consults are best, but here are some photo guidelines to help you decide if you'll benefit from Zeltiq
Dr. Pilest has completed his assessment of the new fat-freezing system called Zeltiq - pronounced Zelteek. After reviewing study results, consulting with physician users across the country and getting feed back from Zeltiq patients, Total Dermatology will now be one of the few clinics in the country which offers this innovative and completely non invasive treatment for fat reduction.
Zeltiq for fat removal | How does the procedure reduce fat deposits? First, the area being treated has to get very very cold. Supercooling the fat layers starts a process of fat cell breakdown. These damaged fat cells are removed by the body's internal mechanisms, leaving the treated areas a bit sleeker, trimmer and more aesthetically pleasing.
The technique, trademarked Cryoliposis™, is designed for definitive locations of fat and not for generalized overall fat removal. It will target small areas of localized fat for those who are otherwise within a normal weight range.
Do not attempt a 'home-version' of this procedure. Without precisely controlled temperature and protection to your skin's surface, you can cause freeze burning which is very dangerous.

Filler of the Future?
Link to Selphyl News Video | It's being called the "Vampire" Filler - What is It?
A new FDA approved self-filler may be headed your way. Derived from your own blood, this new filler is actually the component in your blood that contains natural tissue growth factors. It's been used for years for non-cosmetic use and just this last year was approved by the FDA for cosmetic use.
Dr. Pilest is evaluating Selphyl. The positives? No concern for foreign body reaction since it's your own cells. Downside? Requires you to have blood drawn for the procedure and there's no hard and fast study on how long it lasts - developer estimates are at between 9 to 12 months.
Would you use a blood based fillers? Take our poll.
