USDA Summer Food Service Program for Children

 

During the school year, many children receive free and reduced-price breakfast and lunch through the School Breakfast and National School Lunch Programs.  The Summer Food Service Program is designed to fill the nutrition gap when school is out of session and make sure children can get the nutritious meals they need.  To learn more, click here.

The mission of the National Center for Health in Public Housing (NCHPH) is to strengthen the capacity of federally funded Public Housing Primary Care (PHPC) health centers and other health center grantees by providing training and a range of technical assistance.

NCHPH, a project of North American Management, receives funding through a cooperative agreement grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration.

NCHPH HRSA-funded Grantee Spotlight:

Houston Area Community Services (HACS) Receives $500K for Facility Improvements

 

HACS' Chief Executive Officer, Joe C. Fuentes, Jr., MBA accepts a $500K check while Deputy Chief Officer, Nelson Gonzalez, PhD, receives a proclamation from Margorie McColl Petty - US Dept. of Health and Human Services Regional Director VI and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. The $500K grant provides immediately facility improvements to HACS' existing clinic space.

 

Houston Area Community Services (established 1998) is a not-for-profit enterprise that provides affordable, quality medical care, pharmacy, behavioral health, and support services to individuals and families residing in Harris County and surrounding areas.

Affordable Care Act supports families of children with special health care needs

 

Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius recently announced $4.9 million in Affordable Care Act funding to support Family-to-Family Health Information Centers, primarily non-profit organizations run by and for families with children with special health care needs.  To learn more, click here
