Wellness Tip: Protect Yourself from the Sun | |
Skin cancer is one of the most common kinds of cancer - and one of the most preventable. Sun exposure is by far the most common cause of skin cancer. In fact, 90 percent of skin cancer occurs on parts of the body that usually aren't covered with clothing when you go outside - your face, hands, forearms and ears. Practice these sun-sensible habits to protect your skin:
- Avoid peak sun hours between 10 am and 4 pm
- Cover exposed areas
- Use sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 30 and don't skimp!
- Avoid reflective surfaces and indoor tanning beds or sunlamps
