TMC, Chiefs Celebrate a Healthy Halloween
Truman Medical Centers, the Kansas City Chiefs, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation teamed up for a Healthy Halloween Party. This event was an alternative to the traditional trick-or-treating. Watch this video to see all the fun. |
A Theater Benefit for the HHEDC
Join the Hospital Hill Economic Development Corporation (HHEDC) for a fundraising theater experience at the American Heartland Theater on Dec. 14, featuring a performance of The Marvelous Wonderettes, a musical that packs fun for the whole family.
Everyone wants the perfect prom night, but when the entertainment fails to show up to the 1958 Springfield High Prom, it is up to The Wonderettes to save the night.
The Wonderettes make the night sizzle with their huge voices and hits such as "It's My Party," "Alleghany Moon" and "Dream Lover."
Tickets are $30. Get your tickets by calling Derrick Idleburg at 816-404-3506 or online at
This show benefits the HHEDC, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health and wellness of Kansas City's urban core by bringing healthy eating options to those in food deserts. |
Community Partner Spotlight: Kansas City Chiefs
In 2010, the Kansas City Chiefs and Truman Medical Centers began a partnership to improve the health of the Kansas City Community. This partnership has already provided many successful endeavors such as the Touchdown Family Fest, which served thousands in the Kansas City community with free services like health screenings and dental care. Other events included the recent Health Halloween Party at Arrowhead Stadium in conjunction with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation to give children a healthy and safe alternative to the traditional door-to-door sugar rush. The Chiefs also aid TMC in numerous other events. The Kansas City Chiefs are truly committed to their community by going above and beyond time and time again. |
Produce Market Ends Another Successful Season
TMC's Healthy Harvest Produce Market concluded another successful market season in November. The market served nearly 14,000 customers and sold more than 105,000 pounds of produce. In addition to fresh fruits and vegetables, this year the market introduced fresh baked breads, homemade sauces and jams and flowers for purchase. Some TMC patients were beneficiaries of a new 'prescription" program, in which they received a $10 voucher to the market from a TMC physician.
The prescription program is just one way the weekly produce market is expanding its reach into the community. Vouchers also are provided for new moms who participate in the breastfeeding programs, and for patients being treated for chronic diseases such as diabetes, asthma and obesity. |
