Wellness Tip: Be Realistic |
When it comes to setting wellness goals, be realistic. It is natural to want to go for maximal goals, but be sure to set SMART goals. Goals should be:
Specific
Measurable
Actionable
Realistic
Time Bound
For example, "I will walk for 30 minutes 4 days each week" instead of "I will get in better shape." Setting SMART goals increases your odds of achieving your goal, and sticking with your exercise habit. |

Touchdown Family Fest
In 2010, the Kansas City Chiefs and Truman Medical Centers began a partnership to improve the health of our community, especially those residents who live in the urban core. To expand on community health and wellness, TMC will sponsor Touchdown Family Fest Citywide Free Health Fair on Saturday, July 16 from 10 am to 4 pm at Arrowhead. This health and wellness extravaganza will include live entertainment and appearances by KC Wolf and the Chiefs Cheerleaders. Come and take advantage of free health screenings, sports physicals, immunizations, and enjoy delicious healthy food offerings. Vendors- booth space is running out! Please contact Leo Prieto at leo.prieto@tmcmed.org to secure a spot in this year's biggest health fair at Arrowhead Stadium. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Edgar Palacios at edgar.palacios@tmcmed.org. To get the latest updates visit www.facebook.com/tdfamilyfest and like the page. |

Jeans for Joplin
TMC employees raised $4,500 through a "Jeans for Joplin" fundraiser for their fellow hospital employees who suffered significant losses in the recent tornadoes, severe storms and floods.
The funds will be donated to HERO - Hospital Employee Relief Operation. The Missouri Hospital Association Center for Education, an affiliate of the Missouri Hospital Association, established the HERO fund to help the women and men who work in Missouri's hospitals. Contributions to the HERO fund are used to assist these caregivers in disaster situations.
