Truman Medical Centers is committed to improving the quality of life in Kansas City and the surrounding communities through its department of Community Engagement. 
The Community Engagement is the umbrella division that oversees Employee Enrichment, the TMC Corporate Academy, Community Outreach, Employee Health and Wellness and TMC Innovation. 

Improving an entire city cannot be done by a single organization. With the support of our community partners, we have the power and strength to make a difference and increase the well-being of Kansas City.

TMC and the Chiefs team up to tackle the community health issues in Kansas City.

TMC and Kansas City ChiefsTruman Medical Centers has teamed up with the Kansas City Chiefs to help improve the health of Kansas City. As the Chiefs' official Community Health and Wellness partner, TMC will focus on bringing community health education and outreach to a wider audience, especially in the urban core. 

 

The Chiefs and TMC will collaborate on many community events such as health fairs and community festivals to promote healthier habits.

 

TMC would like to congratulate the Chiefs on a wonderful season! We are looking forward to future endeavors and events as the Chiefs and TMC prepare to gear up for the 2011 season!

  

TMC recognized as a finalist in Healthiest Employers Award.
Healthy Employee Truman Medical Centers has been selected as one of the finalists of the inaugural Healthiest Employers Award by the Kansas City Business Journal. TMC is one of five finalists in the 3,500 plus employee category and was honored at an awards luncheon on March 9. TMC's smoke-free campus and workforce, PTO for Wellness program, on-site employee fitness classes, and annual health screenings are setting the standard for other Kansas City businesses.

 

  

Community Health Education Partner Spotlight

Bluford Library Health and Wellness Resource Center.

Truman Medical Centers has partnered with the Kansas City Public Library and the Health Sciences Institute of Metropolitan Community Colleges - Penn Valley to create a Health & Wellness Center at the Lucile H. Bluford Branch. It's an ideal venue for taking health expertise out of the hospital and making it accessible to everyone in the community.  You'll learn how to manage chronic illness, assess your risk for disease and ask a physician questions all at no charge.

TMC welcomes new Director of the Hospital Hill Economic Development Corporation, Brendan Cossette!

 Truman Medical Centers is pleased to welcome Brendan Cossette as the Director of the Hospital Hill Economic Development Corporation (HHEDC). The HHEDC is a newly established entity of the Department of Community Engagement.

 

In his role, Cossette will generate entrepreneurial business concepts, promote jobs and build individual and family security-all important to teaching individuals how to maintain physical and mental health in an effort to encourage, foster and sustain preventative behavior. The anchor project will be an urban grocery market slated to promote health and nutrition among residents in the urban core.
