Meet the staff | Jase Severance
Hello. I'm Jase and I've been living and breathing cycling since removing the training wheels from my Schwinn Stingray in Louisville, KY when I was the age of five. I recently relocated to St.Pete with my wife and children from Duelmen, Germany.
After meeting my wife on a European vacation in 2000, I decided to move to her hometown in Munsterland and start an apprenticeship as a certified motorcycle/bicycle mechanic. After completing the program and working full time in the cycling industry, I began managing the workshop for my wife's 200 year-old family-owned bicycle and sewing machine shop. In my free time, I enjoyed riding with the local chapter of the German Cyclists Federation. I eventually became a licensed tour guide with that group.
I have a few goals at the Trek Store.
1) Promote cycling as an everyday part of life. In the last 6 months I've logged approximately 1,500 miles between my free time and on my daily 15 mile commute. It is easy to utilize the bicycle for commuting, shopping, staying fit, and spending time with family and friends. Cycling sets a good example for motorists and improves our overall health as well as the environment.
2) Lead local bicycle tours with the goal to enjoy outdoors and socializing. I'm currently guiding the Dinner Cruise on the 2nd Friday of each month. In the near future, I would like to guide a hybrid bicycle tour to the Saturday Morning Market in St.Pete.
3) Open people's minds to the Pedalec ( Electric Bicycles) These are very common overseas and will eventually have their place here. They are so much fun to ride. Once you have had that experience, you will most likely want one, too.
