It is only February and I can already feel that it is going to be a great year. That may sound a little premature, but everything here is going great. I have all of you to thank for that.
As the weather starts to warm up, so does our calendar. I am so excited about all our events coming up. Right now we are working on our monthly Dinner Cruise, our Saturday Morning Women's Rides, and the St.Pete "Bike 'N' Eat", our restaurant tour. And getting more involved with American Stage and SWFBUD...it just keeps getting more exciting.
Now I know that I am fairly new to the bicycle industry, but I'm not new to bicycles. I must say I never expected to enjoy helping people so much to find their freedom, bliss, and self through bicycles. The rest of the staff and I are having a great time helping you make your decisions about what type of bike to buy or find the perfect accessory that makes it even more enjoyable. Thank you so much for including us in your options and decisions. We love it all.
Thank you for the opportunity,
Anne, Lila, Ted, and Robin*
*I'm new at this. Do you have a great story you'd like to share or an experience? Tell me about it. Is there something you'd like to see in this newsletter that I missed? E-mail: anne@trekstorestpete.com.

Spring is right around the corner, and we are all itching for warmer, nicer weather. We have been busy putting together details for upcoming events and in-store sales. There's something for everyone!
In the Store
Go By Bike Computer Challenge: When you add a Trip 1 computer (valued at $30.00) to your new bicycle purchase and log 250 miles*, bring it in, show it off, and receive an in-store credit for the computer.
*no time limit....no fine print
In March you can use your Trek Credit Card for any purchase of $500 or more and get 12 months same as cash. In addition you will also get 10% off any accessories, parts, or wheel purchases when you open a new Trek Card. You can use it on any large repair, accessories, a bike, or anything else you can think of. If you don't already have a Trek Credit Card, then ask us about it next time you are in the store.
Even the best products can wear out. When they do repairs can be costly. Trek's Red Shield Wear and Tear program covers repairs including parts and labor for either 3 or 5 years from the date of purchase of your bike. Most major components are repaired or replaced for free with no deductible or hidden expenses. Get peace of mind.
Our new spring 2011 Pearl Izumi clothes are in! Get ready for the spring and summer with new stylish clothes. They are comfy and guaranteed to make your ride even more enjoyable. Next up is a triathlon area - watch out!

Meet the Staff - Lila Methot Hi, my name is Lila Methot and I started working at ABC Bicycles in November 2009. I have been a customer since 2003 and I have had a love for cycling for as long as I can remember. I was born and raised in St Petersburg, Fl and as a child; my brother and I were always on our bikes. Whether we were going to the beach, Boyd Hill, to our friends or to school we always rode. While raising 4 children, I hung up my bike for some time, but in 2003 I decided it was time to ride once again. My brother suggested I go to ABC and that Rick would help me figure out what was right for me. Rick set me up with a road bike and guided me on my way back to the cycling world. While I was very happy to be a part of ABC Bicycles, I was also excited when Rick asked me to move to the new Trek Bicycle Store. It doesn't matter if it is your first bike or your tenth, the excitement is the same. I love the atmosphere at the bike shop and I enjoy helping customers figure out which bike is right for them. When I am not at the bike shop, I am doing Crossfit WODs (Workout Of the Day), riding my bike, or running. I have found a lot of satisfaction doing what I love; helping people become healthy, fit and strong.

Yoga for Cyclists Mondays at 6:45 pm - This is not yoga for people who want to be able to put their foot behind their head. This is a yoga class for you and me (the inflexible people) the ones that want to be comfortable in our own bodies. As cyclists, our hip flexors, hamstrings, and glutes all get tight while riding. We need our core strength to hold us up on the bike. It's not a competition, it's part of learning how to recuperate from those rides. Bring a mat and a towel - it's FREE!
Urban Assault Ride February 23rd at 6:45 pm - Urban Assault Ride. Bring your knobby tires and a little of that attitude to ride St. Petersburg with a different style. Lights are required. Every ride will finish at a different local pub. Put that Mountain Bike to work at last.
Gidd yUp Morning Rides Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:00 am - Everyone is welcome on these a.m. rides. This ride is about 20 - 25 miles and keeps a pace at about 16 - 18 mph. Suit up!
Women's Rides Saturday Mornings at 8 am - Join up with a great group of women for a morning ride with just the girls. Learn safe routes, how to ride in a group, and meet some new friends. Flat Class February 9th at 5:45 pm - Flat Class. Let our experts teach you how to change a flat. Bring your wheel and flat pack with you. You'll leave with experience under your belt.
Maintenance Class February 23rd at 5:45 pm - Maintenance Class. Learn the basics of the maintenance on your bike - Give us a call! We're here for you.

Health and Fitness
Exercise helps you stay healthy Did you know that exercising can help you beat the cold virus? Click here for a story from NPR on how to make sure you decrease your chances of catching the next bug that goes around.
Importance of Stretching
All of us take time out of our day to plan meals, make sure we're getting the right nutrition and ensure we have enough hydration. So we devote a lot of time to making sure our muscles have all that they need nutrition-wise, but most of us never think about stretching as being as important as food. To your muscles, stretching, is very important. It increases blood flow to the muscle fibers so that it can recover faster, reduces tension, increases your range of motion, and enhance your muscle coordination. Along with all these benefits you will also experience an increase in energy level.
Don't know where to start? Watch for helpful stretches in this section every month or stop by for our Yoga for Cyclists class on Monday nights at 6:45 pm. It is all free!
Quadriceps Stretch lying on your stomach
1 - Lie on your front and bring your right foot towards your bottom.
2 - Hold on to your foot with one hand or a strap (belt, or whatever you can find)
and bring your heel to meet your bottom (or as far as you can).
3 - Feel the stretch in your thigh.
4 - Press your hips into the floor and tuck your tailbone under.
5- This stretch should not be painful, so only stretch just to the point where you feel it but can still breath.
6- Hold this for 10 deep breaths and release.
7 - Repeat with your left leg.
