We just can't get enough of our fantastic supporters! Thank you to everyone who attended our season opening performance at Middlesex County College on October 23rd. The response was wonderful and the dancers exceptional. The pre-show discussion, post-performance Halloween costume contest and photo opportunities with the dancers, brought us even closer to the audience and we loved every minute of it. In case you missed it, read Robert Johnson's review here. There will be several more opportunities to see the company's newest work, Invisible Fields, this season - keep checking the website for future performances.
The week following our performance at MCC the company executed 18 educational programs for the Spotswood school district. The children learned about "Day of the Dead", danced their way around Mexican hats and probed the dancers with a myriad of (often hysterical) questions. The Spotswood PTA also sponsored a free performance of Luna Mexicana at Memorial Middle School that culminated with the kids performing the Mexican hat dance with the LDT dancers. Thank you Spotswood for your hospitality!
As the finale to a very busy October, LDT hosted its first annual Halloween Party on the 30th. Studio families joined us for treats, glitter tattoos, games AND Miss Jackie taught us the dance from Thriller (photo at right)! It was a great way to say "thanks" for being a part of the LDT family and to have a some super spooky fun.
Keep checking www.lustigdancetheatre.org for updates to our schedule and exciting news.

The company has just begun work on a new ballet that will premiere at Middlesex County College on February 26, 2012. A departure from current works in the repertory, Wingéd will be a collaborative effort between Graham Lustig, Artistic Associate Bat Abbit, and company dancers Norbert de la Cruz and Laney Engelhard.
Wingéd will be presented in several consecutive segments that are all thematically linked; not a typical story ballet, but a series of dances exploring the earthbound man's connection to flight - a true dance theatre piece. The movements will evoke weightlessness, soaring and effortlessness in an effort to encapsulate images from Icarus to Angels. Wingéd will be a true reflection of LDT's vision to encourage artistic creation and collaboration.
Stay tuned for more about Wingéd in future issues including an interview with the four choreographers.
