| PRACTICE CORNER | | | Often when practicing a string of notes, one particular note may be causing the entire run to collapse--figure out which note is causing you trouble, then practice the run and stop on the offending note. As always, practice slowly and repeat many times until you can execute the run easily, then try the entire passage. |

Emily, Spring Recital 2010 |
December Recitals With December fast approaching my thoughts turn to the miraculous power of performance in a student's musical journey. The wandering practice session gels into a pursuit of perfection with purpose, the abstract desire to play transforms into a tangible set of skills in need of nurturing.
Performance is the goal to which all students should aspire. Like a Thoroughbred without a race, the student without purpose grazes aimlessly. Once the flag is raised, dispassionate practice gives way to an exuberant sprint to the finish. |
Welcome Guitarist James Elenteny
Jim Elenteny | Please join me in welcoming James, he will be teaching guitar on Saturdays. James holds both a Bachelors and Masters in Jazz/Commercial Music from Five Towns College; he has studied Classical Guitar under master guitarist Gerry Saulter and performed in guitar ensembles under the direction of jazz guitar great Pete Rogine. James Elenteny teaches Digital Audio at Shoreline Community College, as well as directing the college's guitar ensemble. James is an exciting addition to our staff! |

Spotlight I really enjoyed my first year of saxophone lessons for a couple reasons. First the lessons were very informative and Mr.Wilson helped me with my band music and other solo pieces that I was struggling with. He gave me music that was both entertaining and a little challenging. Mr. Wilson also helped me with many of my auditions, and therefore I got into Jazz Band, and got First Alto in Cadet Band. The lessons are an amazing experience for me. ~Jenny
