We've been working hard to inform and engage members of our community about our Small Grants Program. Our website has been updated to include new information about developing business plans, available tax credits and other local, state and federal resources. The BDC is also partnering with ACC's Small Business center to bring you two new seminars focusing on successful business development. We hope you'll help us spread the word by forwarding this email to anyone you think could benefit from this great information.
Free Seminar: How To Write Your Business Plan

Your business plan in the key to your business success business planbecause it acts as a road map for operating a business. This session will review the elements of a comprehensive and convincing business plan that will help you focus and attract interest and investment.


This event will take place Tuesday, August 31st at 5:30 p.m. in the Depot Downtown located at 200 E. Front Street.

Free Seminar: Cash Flow - The Lifeblood Of Your Business

The most important section of the business plan is your cash flow projections, which demonstrate your understanding of how money moves in and out of your operations. This session will explain cash flow analysis and how numbers impact your decision making process. You will learn how to construct realistic cash flow statements and develop good financial assumptions.

This event will take place Thursday, August 2nd at 5:30 p.m. in the Depot Downtown located at 200 E. Front Street.
 
Need Help With Your Business Plan? Come to Our "Office Hours" Sept. 24th  10a.m.- 3p.m.

Milele Archibald, Director of ACC's Small Business Center, will be be in the BDC's offices Friday, September 24th to conduct one-on-one assistance with business plans. Those applying for the 2010-2011 Small Grants Program are especially encouraged to make an appointment. The meetings will be held in 30 minute increments. If you'd like for Milele to review your business plan prior to your appointment, please email her a copy at archiba@alamancecc.edu.

Marketing Workshop With John Shallert

The Wake Forest Downtown Revitalization Corporation is hosting a workshop with destination marketer John Shallert. Mr. Shallert is an engaging speaker and his exciting presentations come highly recommended. The topic of the discussion will focus on "Increasing Sales and Profits as a Destination Business." This event is a great bargain, costing only $125. The workshop will be held Wednesday, October 13th from 8:30a.m. - 3p.m. at Tuxedo Junction (411 S. Brooks Street) in Wake Forest. There will be a three hour presentation followed by a 90-minute marketing round table for participants. The Musical Chairs Countywide Concert Series continues this Friday in the grassy area behind the Downtown Depot. The music will begin at 7p.m. Bring your blankets and chairs to enjoy the tunes!

Need Help Developing A Marketing Plan?

Dr. Lew G. Brown with the UNC-G Bryan School of Business and Economics is currently accepting applications for his a course project dealing with marketing plan development. Senior level students will be partnered with local businesses in order to come up with an efficient marketing plan. Non-profit, for-profit and public sector businesses are eligible to apply. The deadline for applications is September 2nd.

Dr. Brown is also looking for business owners who would be interested in mentoring his students throughout this project. Please review the following documents for more information.
