Farewell Construction Orange!
 Downtown businesses bid farewell to
everything the color of construction orange in recent days as the last of three blocks under road
construction on 3rd Street re-opened to vehicle traffic on June 11th! In less than two months, a worn sewer system, street, sidewalks and planters
were replaced on three blocks of 3rd Street and the finished product looks fantastic. It's no wonder that downtown businesses owners and patrons are giving the project rave reviews!
On behalf of the River District, Main Street Wausau would again like to thank all of the companies involved in the project for its speedy completion and additional measures taken to accommodate businesses. These crews not only ensured storefronts were always accessible, they welcomed leery pedestrians into the construction site, assisted others in maneuvering through the construction, and parked their vehicles off site as often as possible to keep parking available for patrons. Thank you Pember
Companies Inc., Van Ert
Electric Company, Inc., Sunrise Trucking, Green Lawn, and Olson Paving!
Main Street Wausau
also extends a special thank you to Brad Marquardt and Brian Petit with the City of
Wausau Department of Public Works for their work as a critical
communication link among construction teams, businesses and Main Street Wausau.
Their ability to establish and maintain these communication channels was instrumental to the success of the project and the ability of businesses to continue to operate successfully. Thank you!

A New Twist to Sidewalk Sales
Main Street W ausau is excited to announce several initiatives our Sidewalk Sale Committee is putting in place to infuse new life into downtown Wausau's annual Sidewalk Sales, July 8-11. It is our goal that this long-time tradition is one that continues to contribute to the vibrancy of our downtown and the success of all businesses and organizations in the River District. Below are just a few of the steps being taken to increase the impact of Sidewalk Sales by making it possible, easier, and lower in cost for any River District business or organization to participate.
Thanks to the assistance of the First American Center, we are making it possible for any River District business to participate in Sidewalk Sales by offering space on the First American Center Plaza, free of charge. This is a great opportunity for any organization that lacks adequate sidewalk space and / or desired exposure to crowds that will already be drawn to the 400 Block for Marketplace Thursday (July 8) and Chalkfest (July 10-11).
To make participation in Sidewalk Sales easier and lower in cost, Main Street Wausau is assisting businesses in overcoming challenges they may face. Be it to provide tables and chairs, or assistance with the set up or take down process, we are tapping into our resources to assist participants in any way we can. We are also advertising Sidewalk Sales on behalf of participants through signage, social media and print advertising.
If you have a business or organization in the River District that you think would benefit from participating in Sidewalk Sales, please contact Dawn Follendorf at 715.845.1328 or Dawn@MainStreetWausau.orgfor more information.

A Main Street Wausau Welcome
I would like to thank Main
Street Wausau's Board of Directors and Organization Committee members for coordinating a
reception on June 8th to introduce me to River District members and
partners. I appreciated very much the opportunity to get to know many of
you and your businesses and organizations better, as well as your
visions for downtown Wausau. It is our hope that those who attended also
found the reception to be a great opportunity to continue to develop your
relationships within the River District. We look forward to hosting similar gatherings in the future to continue to develop and strengthen your relationships with one another and our partnerships with you!
