Team Spotlight--Heather New

Dispatcher

If you have called Plus, Inc. to place a service call, you have probably spoken with our dispatcher, Heather New.  Heather's position is crucial to our company because she is the communication hub between our customers and our technicians.  Throughout Heather's working career, she has always worked in some form of customer service from hospitality to the construction field.  Heather relates Heather Newher past experience with her current position as dispatcher stating, "Though the types of call were different, it requires the same sense of urgency and attention."  Heather understands that customers depend on their office equipment to run their businesses, and she works hard to ensure the technicians meet the needs of the customers as quickly as possible.  Part of Heather's success in her position relies on her awareness.  She points out that "one of the most important things about my job is to know what is going on around me at all times.  Not only do I have to pay attention to what people are saying to me, I have to pay attention to what people are saying to each other."

When asked about her favorite aspect of the job, Heather commented "Probably the best part of working at Plus is the work atmosphere.  We all try our best to work together and to understand each others' needs both professionally and personally.  I know the people that I work with actually care about me."

Heather also adds helpful hints for customers:

--"Always try to have your equipment ID number ready when calling to place a service call.  The equipment ID number brings up all of the customer and equipment information, making it faster for our staff to log the customer's service call.  This shortens the time that we keep the customer on the phone, and we all know how precious time is these days."

--"Also, it is good for customers to know that service codes are important.  It helps service techs know what parts to bring to a call and makes for a quicker repair, so please take those codes down when they flash up on your machine."

Heather is always quick to volunteer for company events and volunteer opportunities.  One thing she is currently helping with is delivering for Meals on Wheels.  Outside of work, Heather is first and foremost a mom of two precious daughters.  Her "free time" is spent at Daisy meetings or volunteering at the elementary school.  When asked about hobbies and activities, she quips in her spirited personality, "I would like to say that I'm a foodie, but I don't cook so much anymore, and I really enjoy working out, but I rarely get there to do that either!  I have aspirations for the future though!"

Handy Service Tip #7

Keep your paper dry!

During the winter months, an important detail to remember is to keep your paper dry.  If you notice that your paper is curling when it exits your copier or printer, there is a good chance that the paper is damp.  Damp paper can cause jamming.  Paper should be stored up off the floor on shelving when possible.  If you do not have shelving, we recommend storing your paper in plastic containers with lids.  This helps keep dampness out of the paper.
