Team Spotlight
Dawn Moore--Sr. Account Executive
Building long-term relationships is a key element at Plus Inc. and is an essential part of meeting the needs of our customers. Senior Account Executive, Dawn Moore, has been in the office equipment industry since 1996 and joined the Plus team in 2008. Dawn understands the importance of relationship building, and she works hard to go the extra mile for each of her customers. Dawn explains, "I enjoy getting out and seeing customers. Whether a customer purchased a machine three months ago or three years ago, it is important for me to know that my customers are happy and are not having any issues. I enjoy getting to know them on a personal level as well. Originally working for a much larger company, it is so different at Plus Inc....different in a good way! When a customer needs to place a service call or to order toner, the customer calls us directly. This is huge. Some companies take days to deliver toner. I really enjoy having a team that is willing to do anything to help. At Plus Inc. everyone is willing to step up and not "pass the buck"." Dawn's relationship building doesn't end at work. She has been married for 19 years and has two teenagers that keep her very busy. In the summer, her family relaxes most weekends at Lake Greenwood, but when college football season starts, relationships become slightly tense. You see, Dawn lives in a house divided...half of her family are Clemson fans and the other half are, what she describes as, "not so important Carolina Gamecock fans!" If you need help with office equipment or would like Dawn to assist you with a workflow assessment at your office, give her a call at 864-242-9090 or email at dawnm@plusinc.net.

And finally, on October 15th, our golf team hit the green in Anderson to support and help raise funds for the Anderson Area YMCA. Great job guys!
For next month, Team Plus will be helping Loaves and Fishes Sack Hunger! The idea is to bring a sack lunch to work, and then donate the money we normally would have spent at a restaurant to help others in need. If you would like to make a donation as well, log on to http://www.sackhunger.org/my-page.php and choose "Team Plus" to make your secure donation. If you prefer to start your own team, that would be great too! Cash donations are tax deductible and the site is secure. Team Plus is also collecting nonperishable food items for the Thanksgiving holiday through November 19th. If you would like to help Team Plus with our campaign or if you have any questions, please contact Liz Forbes York at liz@plusinc.net of 864-242-9090.
If your company has an event you would like us to know about, please email Liz Forbes York at liz@plusinc.net.

Computer Bytes-
The End is Near (really!) for Windows XP
Robert Bourguignon, Manager of IT Services
Microsoft has been threatening to discontinue Windows XP and then granting extensions more times than Brett Favre has "retired". However, this time appears to be the real deal. Microsoft will halt the sale of both OEM versions installed on new computers and retail versions of Windows XP on October 22, 2010. This date coincides with the one year anniversary of the current Windows 7 operating system.
There is no need to panic if your current computer is running Windows XP. Microsoft will provide support until April 2014 as long as the latest service packs and updates are installed. It is also worth noting that all the Windows XP sales and support dates apply to Windows Vista as well.
The bottom line is that after a record sales period of over 9 years, Microsoft is comfortable pulling the plug on Windows XP because they have a proven replacement product in Windows 7. Windows 7 has been available for a year and is faster and more secure operating system than its predecessors. Windows 7 also takes advantage of the advance features built into today's leading edge memory, processors and other hardware.
Plus Inc. recommends Windows 7 for your new computer system. If you are considering a new computer or upgrading your current computer to Windows 7, it is important to do your homework for both hardware and software compatibility. Plus Inc. has the tools and knowledge to assist you on preparing for your move from Windows XP or Vista.
If you need assistance keeping Windows XP service packs and updates current or are thinking maybe now is the time to say goodbye to XP and hello to Windows 7, please contact me at robertb@plusinc.net or by calling 864-242-9090.

Customer Focus
Loaves and Fishes
With Thanksgiving approaching next month, many of us busy ourselves with grocery shopping, cooking, baking and planning for a bountiful holiday meal. But what if you can't afford to buy food? Holidays can be extremely difficult for families who are financially in need. One of Plus Inc. non-profit customers is helping provide a solution to this need. Since 1991, Loaves and Fishes of Greenville has rescued perishable and prepared food and delivered it to organizations that feed the hungry. Last year alone, they distributed 1,025,031 meals worth of food!
For the past 15 years, Loaves and Fishes has coordinated a program called "Feed the Thousands" where they team up with local organizations and volunteers to prepare and distribute 3,000 Thanksgiving meals. Loaves and Fishes Board Chairman Jon Good remarks, "Feed the Thousands is such a great opportunity to show how many groups and individuals come together to make a good thing happen for neighbors who are less fortunate. This is one more example of why Greenville is such a great place to live and work."
If you would like to support Feed the Thousands and Loaves & Fishes, you may make a donation through their website at www.loavesandfishesgreenville.org or by mail to 25 Woods Lake Drive, Suite 812, Greenville, SC 29607.
