Seeing a very positive candid reaction is a beautiful thing!

Here's the setting....

As is typical in the first few weeks after a new client joins us, the new client's CPA is invited via e-mail to participate in an "Annual Advisors Conference Call" where they join myself, Certified Financial Planner and two insurance experts.  The e-mail invitation explains that they'll receive a package on the current advice being provided the client and the full details on their current situation.   Each expert will voice their opinion on the current advice and then they also question each other.   It a collaborative meeting of experts designed to make sure that the advice being extended is the best that it can be.

The administrator of the successful CPA firm is also the founder's wife.   She's seen it all over the 26 year life of the firm.   She read the e-mail invitation from us and accidentally sent to us her response meant for her CPA husband.  These are her exact words reacting to her husband about our invitation to collaborate in the meeting:

Wow are they serious!   Sounds like fun for you.   :)

We know this is an excellent process, but it's nice to see a private communication reveal it.

Why is the CPA's wife happy for her husband?  She knows that:
  • Collaborative advice is superior advice.
  • It's good for the experts on your team to be watched and challenged by the other experts.  It's built-in checks and balances.   She knows her husband will make significant contributions in the collaboration and enjoy the opportunity to work alongside other experts to better serve his client.
What to Do Next

You won't find another local advisor that has a methodical system like ours, that includes 1 to 3 collaborative advisor team meetings per year.   Some advisors may claim to be able to do this if they hear you talk about it, but they don't really do it.  They may call one of the other team members occasionally to seek their opinion on a matter, which is good, but it's not the same, not even close.

It's going to be impossible to replicate what we do on your own.   Certainly you could meet separately with various advisors on your team.   Some of them would not charge for such a meeting.

In general, increasing the communication with your various experts and seeking their opinion regularly (and acting on it!) would improve your results.

Obtaining the best financial advice and then ACTING on it is not as easy as it seems.   You need help on both fronts.  If you're ready to accelerate your progress towards financial independence, please contact us.

Until next month.

Sincerely,

John O'Reilly
