Aloha!
A merry Christmas to you all! As the secular world puts its ornaments away, its trees on the curb, and its wrapping paper in the recycle bin, those of us of faith can finally marvel at the deep significance of the event we have just commemorated without the distractions of Macy's sales or Walmart specials. When God became man the rules of the game changed entirely and forever. Through God's grace and mercy we have been given a second chance, and as with the condemned criminal given an unexpected eleventh-hour reprieve or the soldier who has just dodged a bullet with his name on it, it is our privilege to welcome and cherish each new day as the gift from God that it most certainly is.
Sincere and heartfelt thanks are due to those who helped make our celebration of Christmas as grand and uplifting as it was--from Frs. Leatherman, Hitchcock, and Sasaki, to the altar and flower guilds, acolytes, lectors, ushers, choir members, pageant participants, and countless others who were a part of what was truly a community endeavor.
While we continue to pray for our parish pilgrimage to the Holy Land led by Fr. Lilie and to mark the season with our regular schedule of services, I also encourage you to enjoy some time for rest and relaxation before the new year and the Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus.
Blessings,
Michael Ida, ObJN
Sr. Warden of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Honolulu

St. Mark's Episcopal Church is an inclusive church in the Anglo-Catholic tradition.
We are dedicated to sharing the good news of God in Christ through our celebration of the Sacraments, Liturgy, and Music, and by attending in Jesus' Name, to the needs of our members and the wider community. We are a welcoming ohana, cherishing our catholic and Hawaiian mission roots, and we rejoice in our diversity.

Every Sunday we collect food and hygeine products for the homeless and the hungry. Will you remember the neediest among us? Donations may be placed in the basket at the entry of the church on Sunday mornings. The donations are blessed at the offertory of High Mass. Please be generous.
