Our Saints and Sinners series returns with these two presentations on the saints of Advent and Christmas. Come and learn more about the fascinating personalities from the history of our faith-some eccentric, some oddball, some stubborn, some irascible, but all of them holy and altogether human just like us.

We will look at Andrew, Thomas, Lucy, Nicholas of Myra, Charles de Foucauld, John, Stephen, Thomas of Canterbury, John of the Cross, Clement of Alexandria, Ambrose of Milan and others.

The Saturday after World AIDS Day
December 3, 5:15 pm

In observance of World AIDS Day (December 1), the Vigil Mass on Saturday, December 3 will be a Mass of Reconciliation for HIV/AIDS. Prayers for healing and reconciliation will be offered, and we will take time to remember all those who have died due to this epidemic. The St. Mark's Choir will sing the mass, and a reception will follow the liturgy.

This mass is sponsored by the Queen Emma Outreach Guild of St. Mark's.

It is a venerable Anglo-Catholic tradition to celebrate with great honor the Feast of the Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This feast actually dates back to 5th century Syria, where it eventually gained much momentum throughout Eastern Christianity. The feast had spread through most of the Western Church by the 800s.  The earliest missals in the West to include this feast, including the popular Sarum Missal of England, simply call the feast the Conception of the BVM, focusing solely on the event of her conception, and not worrying so much about the taint of original sin.  It was an innovation of the Church in Rome to add the word "immaculate" to the title of this feast in the 1850s.

St. Mark's will celebrate this feast day with a proper high mass.  The St. Mark's Choir will sing, and Father Lillie will preach and celebrate.

Joyful Offerings: Pledges & Financial Statements 

Thank you to everyone who has turned in a pledge card for 2012.  If you have not done so, there are extra pledge cards in the back of the church.  Every donation is vital for St. Mark's, no matter how large or how small.  What is most important is that everyone commit to St. Mark's in some manner.

Financial statements from 2011 are still on the back table of the church.  Be sure to pick yours up on Sunday if you have not done so.
