Coach of the Year nomination are due

Coach of the Year nomination are due by the next Pacific Masters Swimming meeting. The award is made at the Pacific Masters Short Course Yards Championships. Nominations should be sent to Peter Guadagni, chairman of Pacific Masters by 14 February. Pacific Masters has many great coaches, write a nomination and let the world know how you feel about your coach.

The award criteria are as follows:
   a. The coach and Club held current PMS registration during the year under consideration.
   b. The criteria for the award will be considered first, since January 1 of the preceding year, and second, over the coach's career with his or her club. Outstanding contributions to his or her club and its individuals are measured by the following competitive and non-competitive factors:
     i. Competitive factors shall include club and individual performance at PMS and USMS Championships in any sanctioned course, as well as relay and individual PMS, USMS and World records that reflect the coach's skill and inspiration.
ii. Non-competitive factors shall include club vigor, size and growth, club participation and volunteering, and club having hosted well-run events.
iii. Outstanding service to PMS, USMS and to other public or private community organizations.
iv. Outstanding professional contributions, such as participation in clinics and published works.
Jon Steiner Memorial Mile

The  Jon Steiner Memorial Postal has begun. Money from this swim will go toward lung cancer research (the insidious disease that killed Jon). You can swim the mile anytime now to the end of February.
USF Valentines Day Meet

The USF Valentines Day Meet will be held on 11 February. There are  significant changes to the meet this year. The first is that there is no deck entry at the meet (you can enter the meet on-line until 11:59 PM the evening prior to event - 10 February). Also this year, swimmers will compete in just the 50s and 100s, so the meet will go very quickly. Since this is the Valentines Day meet, men and women will be seeded together.
