Groundbreaking for Homestead Interchange

The I-35 and Homestead Lane Southwest Johnson County Interchange Project began construction in early March 2012 and is scheduled for completion in the Fall 2013.

The Interchange project includes the construction of a new Diverging Diamond Interchange at I-35 and Homestead Lane to provide access to planned development within the area, including the new BNSF Intermodal Facility and Logistics Park Kansas City.  In addition to the new Interchange, the project will also construct Homestead Lane as a paved roadway to the North, from I-35 to the intersection of 191st Street.  The estimated cost for the project is $30.6 million.

Before beginning construction on the project, KDOT plans to kick-off the project with a groundbreaking event.  The event will take place at the Southwest corner of I-35 and Homestead Lane, the future Interchange location in Southwest Johnson County.  KDOT will partner with Johnson County and the contractor, Clarkson Construction, to coordinate the event details.
