The purpose of this report is to update the Members on activities of the EDC and the general economic development activity in the area impacting Southwest Johnson County.
BNSF Intermodal: The work continues on the Intermodal. 191st Street is being surfaced from Gardner Road to Waverly. Waverly was closed for about two weeks to put additional track in place.
City of Edgerton plans sewer expansion: The City of Edgerton has selected Burns and McDonnell for the wastewater design build project supporting the BNSF Intermodal. CAS Construction was selected along with Burns and McDonnell. The Council approved the action at their November 10th meeting.
CoreNet: I attended the CoreNet (Commercial Real Estate) Conference November 6-8th with the Kansas City Area Development Council (KCADC) and the Kansas Department of Commerce.
Board Resignation: Greg Kindle has resigned from the board. He recently has accepted the position of President of the Wyandotte County Economic Development.
Southwest Johnson County EDC Annual meeting: The EDC Annual meeting will be held from 5:30-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11th. Hosted by CenturyLink at 600 New Century Parkway, New Century, KS. The format will be the same as last year. Cost is $30 per person. More information to follow.
Thank you to Jim Lehman. Jim has completed his term on the Board. Jim has served on the Board for 4 years and has served the last two as Treasurer.
Nominating Committee: The nominating Committee has recommended Allan Soetaert, Manager of Rural Water District #7, to take Jim Lehman's place on the Board. This nomination will be taken before the membership at the Annual Meeting.
