Tommy Schumpert Park
Tommy Schumpert Park gives people and their pets a place to play

The Knoxville-Knox County Metropolitan Planning Commission Tommy Schumpert Park aerialrecently awarded Tommy Schumpert Park with an Award of Excellence. Merit Constriction completed construction of the 173-acre park in July 2009.

Named for former County Executive Tommy Schumpert, the park is located off Rifle Range Road just north of Fountain City.  It includes three multi-purpose fields for football, soccer and other sports, a two mile cross country trail, a concession area, and a baseball field that is home to the Central High School Bobcats.

Another specia

A large pond inside the dog park performs double duty, providing irrigation to nearby ballfields, as well as giving dogs a place to swim.

The park's master plan for phase two includes more parking lots, expanded soccer fields and a
BMX bicycling track.
