As local family owned beer distributors we are energized and excited by the strong growth of Maine's craft brewing industry. The addition of more local craft breweries increases the opportunity for Maine's residents and visitors to enjoy the incredible reputation that Maine's brewers have earned for quality and choice. We're proud of Maine's brewers and passionate about selling and delivering their beer to Maine's retailers, restaurants and taverns across this great state.

Season's Greetings from the Maine Beer & Wine Distributors Association! |
Happy Holidays!
What a difference a month can make; change is everywhere. We have cold weather and the sound of holiday music and excitement for the season abounds. The November elections have come and gone and there is a new political reality in Augusta as well as Washington, D.C.
As with the change of seasons, this is the time of year to celebrate. We begin with congratulations to the newly elected members of the 125th Maine Legislature. We look forward to working with them in the upcoming First Regular Session.
The change of seasons also means wonderful holiday gatherings. We ask you to remember, if alcohol is part of your event, please be responsible and designate a driver. To help with our ongoing message of responsibility this holiday season, our responsibility campaign spokesperson, Olympian Julia Clukey has recorded a public service announcement to help keep Maine safe, click here to listen.
Delivering quality and choice. Advocating responsibility.
Sincerely,
Cheryl Timberlake Executive Vice President Maine Beer & Wine Distributors Association |

News & Notes
Bottle Bill Among Red Tape for Governor-Elect Paul LePage
On November 30, Governor-Elect Paul LePage met with the Maine Business Association Roundtable (MBART) at the Augusta Civic Center to launch his Red Tape Removal Audit program. In his "People Before Politics" theme, LePage and his transition team have underscored their desire to understand what is happening with the economy and what may be holding the state back from creating more jobs.
At the MBART event, there were 28 business leaders, representing key industry trade associations, who expressed their frustrations about Maine's regulatory red tape.
As part of the event, the Maine Beer & Wine Distributors Association shared information about Maine's current Bottle Bill as an example of a unique law that hinders business expansion and job growth in Maine. In the documentation, the association explained that while Maine's system of bottle deposits and redemption has worked in many ways to reduce litter and increase recycling, there are tremendous challenges and financial burdens for distributors that puts Maine business at a disadvantage to other neighboring states that do not have this mandate.
