  • Happy 4th of July!
  • MBWDA Partners with Olympian Julia Clukey to Create Underage Drinking PSA
  • National Distributors Donates $3,400 to the Portland Police Department

Dear Friends,

Cheryl_Timberlake_June
Summer is officially here and the 4th of July is just days away. While it's an exciting time to be outside and enjoy time with family and friends it's also important to be responsible.

We would like to thank Maine Olympian Julia Clukey for recently supporting the MBWDA's responsibility campaign with a PSA about underage drinking. To learn more about her involvement with the Association, see the story below.

This weekend, no matter what beverages you might enjoy, chances are the container will probably have a 5 or 15 cent deposit on it. Maine is one of eleven states that have a Bottle Deposit Law that serves to keep roadsides free of liter and capture empty beverage containers for recycling and reuse purposes. This successful initiative has been in place for over 30 years and showcases the significant role the distributors have played in keeping Maine "green".

To highlight the role of the bottle bill
and the MBWDA partnership with retailers and licensed redemption centers we are proud to share a brief video clip from Joe Karter at Joka's in Waterville, one of the state's busiest redemption centers. Watch the video clip!

Have a happy and safe 4th of July. Delivering Quality and Choice, Advocating Responsibility.

Sincerely,
Cheryl Timberlake

In June, the Maine Beer & Wine Distributors Association (MBWDA) partnered with Olympian Julia Clukey to launch a series of public service announcements (PSAs) to raise awareness about underage drinking. The underage drinking PSAs are part of an ongoing responsibility campaign by the MBWDA to actively promote the responsible consumption of their products.

The PSAs aired on local Citadel Broadcasting and Cumulus radio stations throughout the state to coincide with the high school graduation season.

The new PSA featured Maine Olympian and member of the US National Luge Team, Julia Clukey. The announcements aired during the high school graduation season and early summer months to remind young adults and their friends that one bad decision could jeopardize their future, or as Clukey puts it, "send you off course."

In addition to the PSAs, Julia made numerous on-air appearances on local Citadel Broadcasting and Cumulus radio stations across Maine. Click here to listen to the PSAs or listen to the interviews.

National Distributors check presentation

On June 17, National Distributors Inc. and Heineken, USA presented a check on behalf of Cumberland Farms to the Portland Police Department for $3,400 as part of the 'Heineken with a Heart' community program.

National Distributors Inc. based in South Portland, Maine recently worked with participating Cumberland Farms stores in Southern Maine to raise funds for a local charity. Cumberland Farms selected the Portland Police Department's Youth Services program to be the beneficiary. The money will be used to help further support Officer Raymond Ruby's work with children as part of the Portland Police Department's Youth Services Division.

Since its inception in 2007, Heineken USA's 'Heineken with a Heart' initiative has succeeded in raising more than $500,000 in donations for more than 50 local charities and non-profit organizations.

While Nappi Distributors current warehouse was built in 2008 using state of the art technology and equipment, it has been old-fashioned hard work and dedicated employees that have made the company one of Maine's largest beer and wine distributors. More
