BEER AND WINE
 FACTS

  • Looking back: The State of the State
  • Olympian Jim Craig speaks to Pine State employees
  • Remembering Frank Gaziano
Dear Friends,
Cheryl Timberlake
On January 21st the Governor delivered his State of the State Address

While there are numerous points of interest in the speech, there is one element of particular interest that MBWDA would like to draw your attention to. The theme focuses on an element of our core mission, to advocate responsibility.

As health care reform is being debated and discussed in Washington and here in Maine, the Governor announced a new resource to help Mainers take responsibility for their own health.

"Each one of us can help lower health care costs by taking better care of ourselves and taking responsibility...By logging on to "KeepMEWell.org," people can sign up and learn more about their health status and lower their risk for disease...The confidential Web site will connect people to information and resources they need to be healthier and lower their health care expenses."

Individual Responsibility - each one of us can make a difference.

Sincerely,
Cheryl Timberlake

Founder of National Distributors, Frank Gaziano stands with a Budweiser sleigh during the 1960s.

In 1960, Frank Gaziano purchased National Distributors, Inc. in Portland, ME. The company originally operated out of a small warehouse on York Street that received and shipped beer out of the same door. Today the company employs 200 people, operates out of a 150,000 sq. ft. temperature-controlled warehouse and has a separate sales force selling beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages. This year
the company is celebrating its 50th year in business.

Frank made a lasting impression on the many people he touched who were part of National Distributors over the years.

"Frank was living proof of the American Dream. If you work hard and are determined to make a success of yourself you can succeed. He continues to be an inspiration for many people still in our business and those who have gone on to other careers," said Jeff Kane, president of National Distributors.

Frank J. Gaziano of Cape Elizabeth, Maine owned National Distributors in Portland dating back to 1960. He passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 16, 2010, after a long illness. Frank was born on May 2, 1917, the son of Sal and Madeline (Schiclione) Gaziano. Gaziano was 92 years old.
