  New Partner
in E-Waste Recycling - ECOvanta

PRC is pleased to announce a new partnership with ECOvanta for electronic waste recycling. You may know Covanta as the trash to steam people. Their energy from waste facilites, EfW, dot the coasts in the United States and Europe.

Their involvement with electronic waste recycling ensures that every material that can be recycled will be recycled and the small percentage of safe to dispose of waste, with no recycling value, will be delivered to their EfW plant.

PRC is excited about this new association and we are actively scheduling collection events. Please contact Jayne Young at 610-353-1555 ext. 222 or young@prc.org to schedule a collection for your organization or business.

  Farmers' Market Returns!

PRC has a friend in Mostardi's Nursery. Mostardi's has agreed to host PRC's Farmers' Market this year. Their location at 4033 West Chester Pike in Newtown Square gives the market excellent visibility.

The Farmers' Market will start Wednesday, July 11 at 2 pm until 6 pm, and continue every Wednesday until October 24. We are currently looking for vendors and volunteers. Please contact Carol Butler at 610-353-1555 ext. 230 or butler@prc.org

Please be sure to visit the market on Wednesdays!

Caught Doing Good!

The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership (PDP) and the Pennsylvania Resources Council (PRC) announced a collaborative effort to curb litter in Downtown Pittsburgh while rewarding those who choose to put litter in its proper place.

On June 26, Mayor  Ravenstahl kicked-off the "Caught Doing Good!"  campaign during a  special lunch-time presentation in Market Square that featured a jazz band, mini-parade and surprise Flash Mob.  View pictures

"This campaign can reward someone for picking up newspaper from the ground and throwing it away or properly extinguishing a cigarette in one of the many cigarette urns placed on garbage cans throughout Downtown," said PRC Regional Director Dave Mazza.

This summer,  those who are  'caught'  by a PDP Clean Team member will  be rewarded with a card worth $1.50 at Downtown Crazy Mocha locations. Select cards will contain a numbered code and recipients can visit PRC's Don't Trash My Turf! website or PDP's website for instructions on how to claim additional prizes such as $25, $50 and $100 gift cards good for dining or shopping at participating downtown stores.

For more information, please visit PRC's Don't Trash My Turf! website or call 412-488-7490 ext. 246.

Volunteer Spotlight

An amazing group of volunteers from Washington PA HOG Chapter 1928 put forth an outstanding effort during the May 12 e-waste collection at Steel City Harley Davidson.
The collection was a huge success - locals dropped-off nearly 34,000 pounds of electronics in just 4 hours! We thank the following volunteers for their hard work and dedication and hope to see them at next year's event:
