Recycle Electronics in Quakertown November 5
PRC east held their second successful e-waste collection in Lansdowne Borough on October 1, 2011. As a result of resident participation, over 21,000 pounds of e-waste will not be taking up space in a land fill. The locals were thrilled at the convenience and ease with which they were able to do the responsible thing with their old electronics.
The next e-waste recycling event will take place on Saturday, November 5, from 10 am - 4 pm at the Quakertown Farmer's Market, 201 Station Road, Quakertown, PA, 18951.
For more information please contact Jayne Young at 610-353-1555 ext. 222 or young@prc.org.

ALCOSAN Achieves Highest Level
ZIP Certification!
The ZIP program has certified its first Platinum event! In its second year working with Zero Waste Pittsburgh, the Allegheny County Sanitary Authority (ALCOSAN) truly embraced the process and engaged all the necessary staff to lower the environmental impact of its annual September Open House.
The event, of over a thousand people, was able to achieve a diversion rate of 96% which was largely comprised of a 1/2 ton of compostables. Only 44 pounds of landfill was generated at the event. Their achievement has earned them a spot on the ZWP successes page.
For more information go to www.zerowastepgh.org or contact Kyle Winkler at 412-488-7490 ext. 243 or kylew@ccicenter.org.

Residents Win Standing on Billboard Issue
PRC, in partnership with Preserve Our Pennsylvania Towns (POPT) has had its first court victory. In the case "Bartkowski Investment Group vs. Springfield Township Zoning Hearing Board", the court ruled in favor of two residents remaining as interveners in the case opposing the construction of billboards near their homes. This allows these residents to participate in the case to protect their interests because of their proximity to the site.
PRC along with POPT has encouraged impacted residents to become a party to the Zoning Board hearings. This decision supports our message to ensure that residents' rights are fully protected.
For more information please contact Carol Butler of PRC at 610-353-1555 x232 or butler@prc.org.
