We turn to the Book of Hebrews in these remaining Sundays of the Season after Pentecost-- in these few weeks leading up to the final focus of the Christian Year: Christ the King Sunday.
Think of it as a rising crescendo, the sound of an oncoming flood of worshipers, now in the distance but drawing near, with Christ Himself at the head of the procession.
Or maybe think of it as a grand, colorful portrait coming together brush stroke by brush stroke. What will the final work look like?
...and he sustains all things by his powerful word. When he had made purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high...
Here's what I'd like for us to do in these weeks leading up to Christ the King Sunday:
Take a close look at the passages in Hebrews (see link in the right column)-- and don't forget to go back and get the passage from last week, too.
Next, start taking stock (even keep a little Bible study list) of the many things Hebrews reveals to us about Christ the King. What is His nature? What does He do? What kind of King is He?
I can't wait to see you on Sunday and learn how the Spirit is revealing the portrait of the ultimate King to you.
Looking forward to worshiping with you on Sunday,
