There are only five short chapters in the Book of James. It ought to be fairly easy to boil down, to summarize, don't you think? Maybe not?
So, how would you go about summarizing James?
Well, we're going to give it a try this Sunday. After we hear from Ron (he's going to recite all five major portions of James that we've been looking at), we're going to break them down by chapter and do some thinking about how to summarize them.
Here's a thought for preparation: Read the whole Book of James, or go to the Revised Common Lectionary site (next column) to read only the portions we've previously examined. Work your way through all five chapters in one sitting.
As you read, try to boil down each chapter, each major "chunk", into your own words.
And, as you join in the conversation this Sunday, be sure to share what you've learned.
Looking forward to worshiping with you on Sunday,
Pastor Chris
PS: Don't forget our extra emphasis on kids (including a blessing of children) on Sunday, October 7. Hope to see you, and your children, then!
