Wisdom and Selfish Ambition
Season after Pentecost, 2012

Who is wise and understanding among you?

Greetings!

Sunday's passage of Scripture from the Book of James asks the question, "Who is wise among you?" He talks about two different kinds of wisdom-- earthly and heavenly. Then James says this:

For jealousy and selfishness are not God's kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic.

Makes sense, right? Heavenly wisdom produces good fruit, and earthly wisdom produces, well, bad fruit of course.

So let's do some fruit inspecting this Sunday, shall we? Take a look at the things James says are associated with earthly wisdom-- and then especially this: Take a closer look at what James describes as "selfish ambition."

Where does selfish ambition come from? And what does selfish ambition do to fellowship?

Looking forward to worshiping with you on Sunday,

James
