In the passage of Scripture appointed for this week James talks about the dangerous potential for a powerfully poisonous tongue. Then he gives some vivid pictures for the action of the tongue, including that of a spring that might somehow produce both fresh and salty water:
From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this ought not to be so.
Later in the chapter (and although it's not listed in the Lectionary for Sunday) he turns his attention to wisdom. We've talked about wisdom some lately-- where it comes from, what it looks like.
Let's do this: Think on how James' thoughts on the tongue might connect to his discussion on wisdom.
