There's a passage in this Sunday's Scripture lection that I've never quite understood fully. It's in James (where we'll be camping out for a few weeks), and I'll bet you know it.
James says that a person who reads the word, but doesn't "do" the word, is like one who looks in the mirror:
...and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.
I think I've got it, but there are a few different ways of interpreting the "mirror" thing. So let's do this:
Take a look at the James passage for Sunday and especially spend some time gazing deeply into the section on the mirror.
What's it mean? What's James saying? Try several different translations (you can do that easily at BibleGateway.com). One potential help: The word "face" in the original Greek is something like "face of your birth". Does that help?
