Asking for the Intangible
Season after Pentecost, 2012
Thursday, August 16

The LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said, "Ask what I should give you."

Greetings!

If the Almighty came to you in a dream and asked what He should give you, what would you say?

David's son, King Solomon, said this:

Give your servant...an understanding mind to govern your people, able to discern between good and evil.

Good going, Solomon. I'm afraid my answer would be something really pitiful compared to that.

We've been talking about nickels and noses lately, and last week we noted that Scripture often asks us to measure the things that are limitless, and exclude from count those things that point to our own strength.

Solomon asked for wisdom, but can you count that? God gave it... and more.

Check out the whole passage for this Sunday and, while you're looking it over, see what kind of wisdom we can gain from this story about nickels and noses.

The Lord be with you!
